Candace Cameron Bure Recognizes Growing Freedom for Faith Expressions in Hollywood

Candace Cameron Bure has long been a vocal advocate for her Christian beliefs, and she has recently observed a shift among her peers in Hollywood. During an interview with Fox News Digital on the red carpet at the Movieguide Awards, Bure expressed optimism about the current climate regarding faith and personal beliefs in the entertainment industry.

Less Fear in Sharing Faith

Bure articulated her views on the current landscape, stating, “I feel like people are just a little less afraid of being canceled now that they can share their faith openly or whatever their opinions are, even if they’re not congruent with some other people’s opinions.” This newfound openness, she believes, marks a positive development within the culture.

“I love seeing this in our country, and I’m hopeful. I’m very hopeful,” she added, projecting a vision for a more inclusive dialogue across diverse perspectives.

Hope Amidst Adversity

In her discussion, Bure also expressed concern and compassion for those affected by recent natural disasters in Los Angeles. The raging fires that swept through areas like Altadena and Pacific Palisades last month have left lasting scars on the community.

“It’s been so hard, and I have so many friends that lived in the Palisades that lost their homes. It’s going to be a journey. It’s going to be a long time for recovery,” Bure reflected. Having lived in Pacific Palisades for over three decades, her emotional connection to the community runs deep.

Despite these challenges, she remains optimistic. “In the meantime, the community has come together, and we’re all doing what we can to help,” she said. Her ongoing support extends beyond words, as she remains actively engaged with local efforts to aid those in need.

Community Resilience

Bure mentioned her commitment to assisting those impacted by the fires, stating, “Even though I’m not in Los Angeles right now, I’m filming a movie. I’m still in touch with everyone, still have a store that’s open to gather great items for our families that have lost everything. And we’re going to continue to do that.” This endeavor illustrates the strong communal ties and the importance of support in times of crisis.

A Vision for Hollywood’s Future

While filming projects away from Los Angeles, Bure has her sights set on the future landscape of Hollywood. She expressed a desire for productions to find their way back to her hometown. “I would love to see it come back. However, I’m totally open to all the other states that are currently creating revenue and having more entertainment come into them. I think that’s wonderful too,” she remarked enthusiastically.

Bure’s perspective reflects the current industry trend where many productions are exploring locations outside of California due to financial incentives. Her comments resonate with a broader movement embracing diverse locations for filmmaking.

Calls for Support from New Leadership

With President Donald Trump appointing special envoys like Mel Gibson, Jon Voight, and Sylvester Stallone to address Hollywood’s challenges, Bure is hopeful. She noted, “I’m eager to see it. I hope that they bring a lot of business back to Los Angeles and Hollywood because it’s been, unless you’re a huge, big-budget show, it’s been very difficult to work here.” Her observations highlight the economic realities many in the industry face today.

“It’s honestly why I do the majority of my movies in Canada, because you get better tax breaks up there. So, I am hoping that we get to do a lot more back in the states, specifically in LA, because this is Hollywood, where it all started. Entertainment belongs here,” she stated, emphasizing Hollywood’s unique place in the entertainment world.

Embracing the Holiday Spirit

In addition to her film career, Bure serves as the chief creative officer at Great American Family. She is also a devoted mother to four grown children and has a lineup of Christmas movie projects that she enthusiastically manages.

When asked about her ultimate Christmas movie ambition, Bure remarked, “I think because I do Christmas movies every year, I don’t know that I have the ultimate dream one because then why would I do another one? So, I just keep finding one that’s great to do this year and then just thinking what could be next year.” This reflects her passion for storytelling and the joy she finds in creating festive content.

A Celebration of Family Entertainment

Bure’s participation at the Movieguide Awards, an event dedicated to honoring quality family-oriented films and television, is significant to her. “I love the Movieguide awards. It’s one of my favorite events every year because it’s the award show that celebrates family movies and television,” she concluded. Her commitment to promoting wholesome entertainment remains unwavering as she continues to blaze trails in Hollywood.
