Georgia Congressman Advocates for Trump’s Vision to Acquire Greenland as ‘Red, White and Blueland’

Representative Buddy Carter, a Republican from Georgia, has come forward in support of President Donald Trump’s ambition to acquire Greenland and has introduced a bold proposal to redefine the territory’s name in a distinctly American way.

On a Tuesday press release, Carter revealed his initiative: a bill that seeks to change Greenland’s name to ‘Red, White and Blueland.’ He expressed his belief that with the inclusion of the Nordic territory, America is poised for unprecedented growth.

“President Trump has rightly viewed the acquisition of Greenland as a national security imperative,” Carter stated. “We will welcome its people into the freest nation in history when our Negotiator-in-Chief finalizes this historic agreement.” This declaration shows his unwavering support for the President’s agenda.

The legislation, titled the ‘Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025,’ was also made public through Carter’s announcements. The bill outlines a clear directive regarding the renaming.

According to the text of the act, “Greenland shall be known as ‘Red, White, and Blueland.’ Any reference in U.S. law, maps, regulations, or documents to Greenland will be considered a reference to ‘Red, White, and Blueland.'” This demonstrates a significant commitment to Americanizing the territory’s identity.

It is worth noting that as of Tuesday evening, the bill did not have any co-sponsors, and Carter has yet to engage in discussions about it with Trump, as stated by his office.

Trump’s Previous Interest in Greenland

Donald Trump has shown interest in acquiring Greenland since 2019, referring to it as a potentially lucrative real estate deal during his presidency. In December of that year, Trump intensified his calls for American acquisition, describing it as a matter of national security.

And in a Truth Social post at that time, Trump emphasized, “For purposes of National Security and Freedom around the world, the United States believes that ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity.” His framing of the issue highlights the strategic significance he places on Greenland.

Danish Prime Minister’s Response

Responding to these developments, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reiterated in February that Greenland is “not for sale,” while expressing a willingness to enhance U.S. military presence in the Arctic region.

Frederiksen acknowledged, “I completely share the American perspective that the High North and the Arctic region have become increasingly critical concerning defense, security, and deterrence.” She referred to rising activities from both China and Russia in the area.

Exploring Opportunities for Cooperation

The Prime Minister expressed optimism about finding collaborative ways to strengthen Arctic security, stating, “The U.S. is already present in the region, and there are avenues for expanded capabilities.” Her acknowledgment of the U.S. role in the Arctic suggests a mutual understanding of the growing importance of the region.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of the ‘Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025’ reflects an ongoing conversation around national identity and security. As global dynamics shift, Greenland’s strategic relevance continues to capture attention on both sides of the Atlantic.

While the bill faces hurdles and skepticism, it undoubtedly contributes to a broader dialogue about Arctic policy, national security, and international relations. Carter’s move to support Trump’s vision connects to the longstanding interest in expanding U.S. influence and presence in vital global regions.

The story reminds us that as political landscapes evolve, so do ambitions and aspirations. The concept of blending national identity with governance raises questions about the future relationship between America and territories like Greenland.

As developments unfold, stakeholders from both nations will need to navigate their goals carefully. The focus on Greenland as a priority illustrates the complex layers of geopolitics and local sentiments intertwined in such discussions.

Through this endeavor, Rep. Buddy Carter not only aligns with a prominent narrative championed by Trump but also ignites discourse surrounding American nationalism and territorial changes. Time will reveal if this bill transforms into actionable policy or remains an ideological expression of aspirations.
