As Maduro consolidated power in Venezuela, he allegedly became involved in a violent narco-terrorism conspiracy in collaboration with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, known as FARC, which is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the U.S. government.

Prosecutors allege that Maduro facilitated the arrangement of new multi-ton shipments of FARC-produced cocaine while directing the Cartel of the Suns to equip these operations with military-grade weapons.

U.S. Naval Operations Increase

In August, President Trump authorized the deployment of several U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers to bolster counter-narcotics operations throughout the Caribbean. This move aims to enhance U.S. efforts to counter drug trafficking in an increasingly volatile region.
