Rep Nancy Mace Stands with Young Conservatives
U.S. Representative Nancy Mace, a Republican from South Carolina, expressed unwavering support for young conservatives following the tragic assassination of activist Charlie Kirk. This heartbreaking event ignited national outrage and led to the dismissal of three professors at Clemson University for allegedly celebrating his death.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Mace shared her thoughts ahead of a scheduled speech at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event on the Clemson campus. Mace emphasized the importance of standing together during challenging times, stating, “We’re not going to be afraid” as they honor the legacy of Kirk, the founder of TPUSA.
Kirk was fatally shot during a speech at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was just 31 years old and left behind a wife, Erika, and two young children. His untimely passing has left a significant void in the conservative movement.
During her address, Mace reached out to the youth, saying, “I want all of our young people across South Carolina and the country to know that we are with them. We are all Charlie Kirk, and they will be supported. We won’t allow anyone or any political violence to stop this movement or moment.” Mace’s message resonated with young conservatives determined to uphold Kirk’s ideals.
The congresswoman emphasized their commitment to honor Kirk by continuing his work. She affirmed, “We are doing this for Charlie Kirk. We’re doing this for Turning Point. There are millions of Charlie Kirks out there today who want to carry the torch forward, and we will not be afraid.” She reaffirmed their dedication to public demonstrations supporting free speech and faith.
Following the assassination, Fox News Digital reported instances of harassment faced by young conservatives during on-campus memorials. In response to Kirk’s death, several professors faced termination for their public statements condoning his murder, which sparked widespread debate over academic freedom and accountability on campuses nationwide.
Three professors at Clemson University were among those dismissed for reportedly celebrating Kirk’s assassination. Mace highlighted the proactive steps taken by members of the Clemson College Republicans and the TPUSA chapter in bringing attention to these professors’ comments and mobilizing efforts to remove them.
Expressing her views, Mace remarked, “They made a difference where it mattered. Those who promote or incite violence shouldn’t be teaching our students. Regardless of political beliefs, human decency should prevail in educational environments.” She called for unity among students, asserting that when they stand together, they cannot be defeated.
Mace conveyed a message of hope to parents concerned about what she described as leftist indoctrination in educational settings. Her confidence in today’s youth shines through her words.
“I have never been prouder nor more confident in our generation than I am today. These young men and women have stepped up in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s tragic murder to fill the gap left by his loss. Their resilience is an inspiration,” she stated.
In a previous controversy, Clemson faced backlash after a health portal form was discovered listing 15 gender identity options while excluding male and female. After the form was eventually removed, Mace criticized university officials for their lack of accountability. She stated, “I expect more from Clemson, and their slow response left much to be desired. Fortunately, the Board of Trustees convened an emergency meeting to correct course.”
Mace emphasized the critical need for lawmakers and judicial bodies to protect the principle of free speech while honoring Kirk’s mission. Her remarks highlight the ongoing struggle surrounding free expression on college campuses.
“The First Amendment is a fundamental right established by our founders. It is our duty to defend it,” she stressed. Mace urged that lawmakers must step up to protect students’ free speech rights in the aftermath of Kirk’s assassination, exemplifying a larger trend of resilience within the conservative movement.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Mace’s advocacy has become increasingly vital. She remains steadfast in her commitment to uphold conservative values and ensure that young voices are heard. In doing so, Mace stands as a beacon of hope for many who seek to navigate the complexities of today’s political climate.
