Mike Waltz Advocates Trump’s Gaza Initiative as a Historic Chance for Peace

U.S. Ambassador Sees a Unique Opportunity for Middle East Peace

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz expressed his belief that President Donald Trump’s recent Gaza peace initiative may offer a historic chance for peace in the Middle East.

On Monday, Trump unveiled his Gaza peace proposal, which has already garnered support from Israel. Despite facing criticism from the U.S. regarding the United Nations’ role in Gaza, the plan depends significantly on the cooperation of the international body. When asked about the practical implementation of this initiative, Waltz stated that while the U.S. will collaborate with the U.N. in Gaza, it will also hold the organization accountable and demand necessary reforms.

Challenges of Aid Distribution in Gaza

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Waltz cited a pressing concern regarding the U.N.’s operations: the delivery of aid to Gaza. He pointed out that according to U.N. statistics, nearly 90% of aid trucks sent to the region were intercepted by armed groups or overwhelmed by desperate crowds between May 19 and August 5. The U.S. has attributed much of the blame to Hamas, accusing the terrorist organization of seizing aid supplies and reselling them for profit.

“We cannot allow a situation where U.N. agencies, funded by the U.S. to the tune of approximately one-fourth of their total budget, are enabling Hamas to exploit aid meant for the needy,” Waltz emphasized during the interview.

Progress of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation

The U.S.- and Israel-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which has faced extensive criticism from the U.N., recently announced that it has successfully delivered over 178 million meals since its operations began in May.
