The ‘This Is The Turning Point’ tour from Turning Point USA is set to make its next appearance at the University of North Dakota. Dalton Nelson, the Midwest regional manager of TPUSA, recently shared insights with Fox News Digital on the anticipated campus event.
Since the tragic assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10, the nationwide tour has sparked significant interest across various college campuses. Nelson expressed optimism regarding the attendance at the upcoming North Dakota event.
Nelson stated, “The community is thrilled. I have received countless inquiries on social media, with people eagerly seeking information about the event and how to secure tickets.” This enthusiasm indicates a strong local interest in the tour.
According to Nelson, both the campus and community have shown robust support leading up to the event. He noted, “The response has mostly been positive, generating good feelings on campus. Everyone seems excited about what’s to come.”
While there are no significant safety concerns, Nelson confirmed that appropriate security measures will be implemented. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of local law enforcement and the university’s staff. “The community has committed officers, and the school will deploy its full security team. Since we are expecting a large crowd, additional parking staff will be on hand as well. Turning Point always brings our own security for major events, ensuring a safe environment for attendees,” he explained.
Nelson described North Dakota as a welcoming and conservative state. He remarked, “People appreciate Turning Point and held Charlie in high regard. I have no safety worries, and I believe students share this sentiment. They are simply excited, just like we are to host this event. We focus on those attending for the right reasons, looking past anyone who might have other intentions.”
Nelson has observed a noticeable increase in engagement with TPUSA among students at various schools in North Dakota. He indicated that most of these institutions have a predominantly conservative student body. Previously, students would merely pass by Turning Point displays without engaging. Nelson explained, “When Charlie’s image appeared on our foam boards, students would often say they liked him and continue walking. Today’s situation is quite different. Students are stepping forward, eager to discuss their conservative beliefs and the values they hold dear.”
He continued, “Attitudes have changed. More students are prepared to speak out, wanting to share their thoughts on Charlie and their conservative values. This shift has encouraged a more vibrant discussion on campus as students feel empowered to voice their beliefs.”
Nelson expressed confidence in the future of the conservative movement on college campuses across the nation. He stated, “I genuinely believe the future belongs to students who are no longer intimidated to express their opinions. The energy is shifting.”
Moreover, he predicted, “In five years, college campuses will likely emerge as the leading bastions of conservatism in the country. The youth are galvanized and ready to make their voices heard. We’re building a strong foundation for what lies ahead.”
The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, at 6:30 PM Central Time. As anticipation builds, it remains to be seen how this gathering will shape the ongoing dialogue around conservative values in educational environments.
