On October 10, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a baby discovered alone under a tent at Miramar Beach. The incident occurred around noon at a location near 4000 Sandestin Boulevard.
Beachgoers observed the baby unattended for approximately an hour while the parents strolled down the shoreline with their three other children. Concerned witnesses promptly alerted local law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office later confirmed that emergency responders from the South Walton Fire District assessed the baby and found she was not in any distress.
Shortly thereafter, Sara Sommers Wilks, age 37, and her husband Brian Wilks, age 40, both from Houston, Texas, returned to the location. Upon their return, the couple reportedly acknowledged that they had placed their child under the tent for a nap before leaving the area.
