An incident on a Lufthansa flight from Chicago to Germany has left two teenagers injured and an Indian national facing serious charges. Praneeth Kumar Usiripalli allegedly stabbed the two 17-year-olds with a metal fork, causing the flight to divert to Boston, Massachusetts.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Usiripalli has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to cause bodily harm while traveling on an aircraft.
Usiripalli, who previously entered the United States on a student visa, currently lacks lawful immigration status and is now in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He was last enrolled in a master’s program focusing on biblical studies.
