EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz has emphasized that President Trump’s ambitious Middle East peace plan is unequivocally the only viable path forward. During discussions aimed at securing a resolution to codify the Trump administration’s Gaza strategy within the UN framework, Waltz stressed the initiative aligns seamlessly with an America First agenda.
Following a meeting with international partners and allies, Waltz shared insights with Fox News Digital about the United States’ objective to present a comprehensive resolution to the UN Security Council concerning Gaza.
The proposed resolution aims to endorse the establishment of a Board of Peace, outline parameters for Gaza’s transitional governance, and initiate the International Stabilization Force, all derived from the president’s twenty-point Gaza peace framework.
“Only President Trump possesses the unique ability to unify all parties involved, much like he did at the historic Sharm El-Sheik summit,” Waltz stated in an exclusive interview. “He stands as the sole leader capable of bridging the divide between Israelis, Palestinians, and other parties in the region.”
Waltz characterized the president’s peace initiative as a once-in-a-generation opportunity for real progress in the Middle East.
“This represents a significant moment for the United Nations; it must rise to the occasion, embrace the president’s plan, and commit to its implementation,” he asserted.
Waltz pointed to the extensive death and destruction wrought by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. He urged the global community to band together and utilize the UN’s capabilities to resolve the situation in a manner consistent with the America First philosophy.
“This initiative to solidify peace in Gaza through a Security Council resolution essentially represents a call to return to the core functions of the UN,” Waltz elaborated. “We are asking for a return to basics. The focus should strictly be on fostering and sustaining peace, which includes supporting the president’s ongoing efforts.”
Trump’s plan envisions Gaza as a de-radicalized and terror-free area that poses no threats to neighboring regions. The strategy also includes plans for redevelopment, primarily benefiting the residents of Gaza.
As part of the peace plan, Israeli forces are expected to withdraw, and a temporary transitional government composed of a non-political Palestinian committee will be established. This committee will effectively manage day-to-day public services and municipal operations for the people of Gaza.
The transitional governance will operate under the oversight of a newly formed international body, branded as the Board of Peace, which will be chaired by President Trump along with a select group of international leaders.
According to a UN source, the resolution could essentially solidify the plan as international law.
When it comes to the timeline, a source from the UN indicated that while negotiations usually extend over months, the U.S. Mission is aiming for swift action, hoping to finalize the resolution in a matter of weeks.
“We aim to act efficiently,” the source communicated. “The current ceasefire remains fragile, so we must ensure that the situation does not deteriorate further. The sooner this resolution is finalized, the faster we can position countries to contribute forces for stabilization.”
Additionally, representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Qatar, nations not currently on the Security Council, collaborated with Waltz and the U.S. Mission to present the resolution to the broader Security Council.
“This collaboration strengthens our position significantly,” the source remarked. “Our goal is to facilitate humanitarian assistance, establish stability, govern effectively, and actively engage the international community in funding these initiatives.”
The resolution is expected to create a specialized mechanism overseen by Jared Kushner, Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This enablement will ensure that resources are utilized efficiently, maintaining a private sector approach.
Rubio expressed optimism regarding international participation, noting, “We are witnessing unprecedented willingness from nations to contribute, whether financially or through personnel and expertise. This level of cohesion regarding such efforts appears historical and monumental.”
As negotiations advance, the U.S. is reportedly working at an unprecedented pace by UN standards.
“Participants do not want to undermine the best opportunity we’ve had for genuine peace in a generation,” the source explained. “They certainly do not wish to assume the role of bureaucrats taking responsibility for a resurgence of conflict.”
President Trump views the peace initiative as the launch pad for a grand accord leading to lasting harmony across Israel and the broader region.
“I hold a firm belief in the strength of this plan,” Trump remarked. “We stand on the brink of a historic dawn in the Middle East’s path to peace.”
As discussions continue, all eyes remain fixed on how the international community responds to this ambitious proposal. The outcome may very well reshape not only Gaza but also the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East for generations to come.
