Authorities have unveiled shocking footage revealing a leading Arizona county attorney confronted by police amid serious accusations of illicit behavior. Paul Correa, the chief civil deputy county attorney for Cochise County, faces claims of filming a 12-year-old girl at a Target store and subsequently engaging in inappropriate conduct in his vehicle.
The incident unfolded last month when the girl’s father caught Correa allegedly watching a video on his phone while in his car, reportedly with disheveled pants. Following this confrontation, officers from the Sierra Vista Police Department arrived on the scene, where body camera recordings captured Correa persistently denying the accusations against him.
In a swift response to the situation, Correa was terminated from his position just one day later. Lori Zucco, the Cochise County Attorney, announced the firing after holding discussions with law enforcement officials and the victim’s family.
In a statement, Zucco expressed her deep concern regarding the allegations, emphasizing the gravity of the situation for someone holding a position of public trust. Correa asserted, “He thinks he saw something. He’s confused, he’s angry… He thinks that I was in the store recording his daughter with my phone. That’s not true, that’s absolutely not true. I was here buying gifts for a holiday party.” This explanation raises further concerns about the situation.
An officer present during the investigation probed, “What would make them think that you were recording?” To which Correa replied, “That I had my phone out. Maybe? I don’t know. I don’t know what he thinks he saw.”
Following the incident, police confiscated both his personal and work phones before permitting him to leave the store. He was subsequently arrested and dismissed from his role as county attorney.
