Health reports from former President Joe Biden’s time in office reveal no evidence of aggressive prostate cancer, as a review by Fox News Digital indicates. The official documents dated from 2021, 2023, and 2024 underscore Biden’s health, despite recent revelations of a prostate cancer diagnosis.
Biden, who faced two brain aneurysms in 1988, receives annual health evaluations from former White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor. Reports from 2021 and 2023 stated that the president remained in good health, and the latest report from 2024 continues to affirm his fitness for presidency.
Initially, Biden was set to undergo a physical examination by January 2023. However, a busy travel schedule delayed this evaluation, as noted in the White House announcement at that time. The interval between his last two physicals lasted approximately 15 months.
Upon examining the health documents released by the White House, Fox News Digital confirmed that the reports contained no indications of aggressive prostate cancer for the 46th president. Instead, the findings highlighted recurrent concerns about skin cancer, a recurrent theme throughout the assessments.
Dr. O’Connor’s first annual health report was presented in November 2021, classifying Biden as a “healthy, vigorous” individual. In that initial report, O’Connor described Biden as capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of the presidency, emphasizing his fitness level.
“President Biden remains a healthy, vigorous 78-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, including those as Chief Executive, Head of State, and Commander in Chief,” O’Connor noted in 2021.
The health examination process for Biden included routine screenings for various conditions, including tests related to his heart, eyes, and teeth, alongside investigations for occasional gastroesophageal reflux. Importantly, Biden also underwent screenings for colon cancer and skin cancer, with previous surgeries removing localized non-melanoma skin cancer.
Despite showing no novel areas indicating skin cancer concerns during the 2021 exam, the report did note an increase in Biden’s throat clearing and coughing at public events. O’Connor attributed this increase to gastroesophageal reflux after performing thorough lung and biological assessments.
Additionally, the report indicated that Biden’s gait appeared somewhat stiffer compared to the previous evaluations. This stiffness stemmed from wear and tear on his spine and mild sensory peripheral neuropathy, with suggestions for physical therapy to manage the condition.
The second health evaluation, released on February 16, 2023, followed about 15 months after the first physical. Dr. O’Connor confirmed that Biden remained in good health, reiterating his capability to serve as president.
“President Biden continues to be a healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male capable of executing the duties of the presidency,” O’Connor stated in his findings from 2023.
The February report also confirmed that Biden experienced a battle with COVID-19 in July 2022. During that time, he exhibited mild symptoms and was treated with Paxlovid.
During the 2023 physical, Dr. O’Connor reported that overall health remained stable, despite the stiff gait. Routine skin cancer surveillance also led to the discovery of a small lesion on Biden’s chest, which was successfully biopsied and determined to be basal cell carcinoma. Proper treatment followed the biopsy, confirming the complete removal of cancerous tissue.
As part of the 2024 physical assessment, released on February 28, the doctor again pronounced Biden in good health. The findings reiterated that essential organs including the heart and lungs performed well, and any changes previously noted related to Biden’s gait did not significantly worsen.
The 2024 report noted ongoing observations regarding the small lesion removed in 2023, which required no additional treatment, affirming that basal cell carcinoma typically does not spread to other body parts.
Biden’s adopted use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine for sleep apnea was also mentioned. Moreover, he underwent a root canal procedure in the same year, resulting in no complications.
Dr. O’Connor, who has been monitoring Biden’s health since 2009, maintains a trusted relationship with the president and his family. He has served Biden through various health challenges and remains committed to ensuring the president’s well-being.
In a profile interview, Dr. O’Connor expressed deep respect for Biden, highlighting the commander-in-chief’s dedication and familial approach: “I have never had a better commander than Joe Biden.” Such statements reflect the strong bond that has developed over time, especially during tougher periods in Biden’s life.
The discussion about health took a public turn earlier this month when Biden announced his recent prognosis regarding prostate cancer. Media reports indicated that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, raising concerns about the delay in previous screenings.
Biden’s spokesperson confirmed the diagnosis on May 20, indicating that earlier screenings for prostate cancer had not been conducted since 2014. This revelation surprised many medical professionals, as Biden’s previous tests did not show cancerous indications.
In addressing his supporters, Biden expressed gratitude for their assistance during this challenging time. He noted, “Cancer touches us all. Like many others, Jill and I have discovered our strength amid adversity.” Offering a message of resilience, he acknowledged the communal support received from family, friends, and admirers.
While recent events surrounding Biden’s health have indeed raised eyebrows, the historical context of his medical assessments continues to draw attention. Future evaluations will remain paramount for both his personal health and public confidence.
As Biden navigates this new chapter in his health journey, ongoing transparency and periodic updates from his medical team will be essential in assuring both the nation and medical experts about the President’s well-being.
