Recently, Joel’s representative, Claire Mercuri, informed The Associated Press that the musician plans to close 20th Century Cycles in Oyster Bay. The shop will shut its doors by late September, and later this year, Joel will auction off his personal motorcycle collection due to his ongoing medical issues.
Understanding Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
Normal pressure hydrocephalus, often abbreviated as NPH, occurs when cerebrospinal fluid accumulates inside the skull, consequently putting pressure on the brain. Typically, this condition affects individuals older than 65 years. Treatment usually requires a surgical procedure to implant a shunt, which drains the excess fluid.
In his May statement, Joel noted that his symptoms had worsened after recent concert performances, leading to significant issues with hearing, vision, and balance. Doctors have recommended specific physical therapy as part of his recovery process, advising him to refrain from live performances during this time.

Joel opened 20th Century Cycles in late 2010. The establishment served as a place to maintain and repair motorcycles, restore and customize his own bikes, and share his passion with the public.
