Blake Lively is set to provide testimony under oath in the ongoing sexual harassment trial involving her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. This trial centers on allegations made by Lively against Baldoni, stemming from their collaboration on the film ‘It Ends With Us.’ Reports indicate that Lively, who is 37 years old, will take the stand in a New York courtroom during the trial scheduled for March 2026.
Lively’s legal representative, Mike Gottlieb, confirmed on Thursday that his client is prepared to testify. He emphasized the importance of the trial as a moment for Lively’s story to be heard. Gottlieb stated, ‘We expect that to be the case here with Lively. Of course, she’s going to testify.’
He further elaborated on the significance of the trial, saying, ‘There are individuals who were witnesses to or experienced misconduct relevant to Ms. Lively’s claims. We expect their testimony, particularly about what took place on set, will come out through live witness testimony.’
The legal struggle began in December when Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni. While the case had previously been marked by contention, the upcoming trial is expected to spotlight various distractions surrounding the allegations. Gottlieb claims that these distractions aimed to deflect attention from a retaliation campaign launched against Lively because she raised concerns regarding sexual harassment.
Baldoni’s legal team remains steadfast in their defense. In a statement released to the media, his attorney Bryan Freedman insisted that the truth is crucial to the proceedings. ‘The truth has been clearly shown through unedited receipts, documents and real-life footage,’ Freedman commented. He added, ‘Blake was the one who brought her high-profile friends into this situation without concern for their own personal or public backlash.’
Freedman also expressed concern over the involvement of Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, in the developing narrative. He suggested that the situation may involve complex corporate implications, stating, ‘Was Disney actually complicit in Ryan using shareholder revenues to further a personal grudge? I would be surprised to learn that this type of corporate waste would not lead to much more exposure for those that have been complicit in affecting shareholder revenue.’
The case intensified when Baldoni included Taylor Swift in his accusations. He alleged that Lively utilized her friendship with the global superstar to pressure him into altering the script for ‘It Ends With Us.’ During the filming process, Lively insisted on rewriting a rooftop scene, despite Baldoni’s initial reluctance.
According to the complaint, Baldoni felt compelled to meet with Lively at her New York City home, believing that both Swift and Reynolds pressured him into accepting her revisions. In a text exchange outlined in the lawsuit, Baldoni expressed his appreciation for Lively’s work, framing it as beneficial to the film’s development.
Lively responded to Baldoni’s message by referring to Swift and Reynolds as ‘dragons’ who protect her. This dramatic terminology illustrates the high stakes and intense emotions involved in this legal battle.
On the same day Lively filed her federal lawsuit detailing allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, and emotional distress, Baldoni countered with a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times. He claimed the Times published an article that misrepresented the events associated with his grievances against Lively.
In a further development, Baldoni initiated a separate $400 million defamation lawsuit against both Lively and Reynolds. He accused the couple of attempting to commandeer the narrative surrounding ‘It Ends With Us’ in an effort to manipulate public perception.
To support their claims, Baldoni’s team has set up a website detailing the timeline of events, which they assert validates their case. They also shared unedited footage from the film set, contending that this evidence would bolster their respective positions in the dispute.
As the trial approaches, anticipation grows surrounding the testimony from Lively and other witnesses. With allegations of misconduct and retaliation surrounding a high-profile film project, this legal battle promises to attract significant media attention. The outcome could not only impact the careers of those involved but also set precedents for handling workplace harassment in the entertainment industry.
In this evolving narrative of power dynamics, personal relationships, and professional conduct, all eyes will be on the courtroom when the trial begins. Many are left wondering how this high-stakes legal saga will unfold as additional testimonies and evidence come to light.
