The Carolina Panthers announced the dismissal of an employee on Thursday due to inappropriate social media comments following the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Charlie Rock, a staff member in the team’s communications department, was relieved of his duties, a source familiar with the situation confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Rock’s posts raised eyebrows when he questioned why people were expressing sadness over Kirk’s shooting. In addition, he shared the song “Protect Ya Neck” by Wu-Tang Clan.
In a statement issued via social media, the Panthers clarified their stance, stating, “The views expressed by our employees are their own and do not represent those of the Carolina Panthers. We do not condone violence of any kind. We are taking this matter very seriously and have addressed it with the individual involved.”

MSNBC recently terminated analyst Matthew Dowd for making similar comments shortly after Kirk’s shooting. The network publicly condemned Dowd’s remarks made during their breaking news coverage.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, suffered a fatal gunshot injury around 12:20 p.m. local time while on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem. He was speaking to a crowd that mainly consisted of college students at the time.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls, along with Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason, confirmed that they possess “good video footage” of the shooter from the university campus.
Investigators believe the suspect is likely “of college age” based on the obtained footage. The investigation into the assassination of Kirk continues.
