He explained, “Having a new coach, they have to come in and proclaim their dominance and be able to control the room. That’s significant stress on them. They need to make us understand why we should follow them. I believe Jerry Jones did a commendable job of maintaining continuity throughout this transition.”
Schottenheimer’s inaugural season will come on the heels of a disappointing 7-10 record last year, a campaign that saw quarterback Dak Prescott sidelined mid-season due to a hamstring injury.
Reflecting on the past season, Lamb remarked that given the circumstances, it is simple to dismiss last year as a lost cause. He stated, “A lot of bad came out of it, but it showcased the team’s toughness, commitment, and resilience. We fought for one another. Experiencing the lows serves as a reminder of what we must avoid this year, particularly regarding injuries. It was unfortunate that several key players went down early, and if we want to succeed, we must improve our durability and physical health.”
One of the critical objectives for the upcoming offseason revolves around securing Micah Parsons, whose contract is now due. Retaining Parsons would prove invaluable, yet it introduces a financial dilemma. Prescott, Lamb, and Parsons collectively account for a substantial portion of the team’s salary cap.
Lamb emphasized the importance of Parsons to the team’s prospects. He acknowledged the complexity of managing such significant contracts, saying, “It’s definitely a tricky moment, and those are things you think about, ‘how can we get as many guys in here as possible?’ As for me, I’m trying to navigate this situation. I genuinely care about winning—my financial security is already established, and it’s always been about the championship for me.”
