Nadya Movchan, CEO of the Movchan Agency based in London, shared her transformative experience with Fox News Digital. She revealed that ever since she kicked her coffee habit, she has never felt more energetic.
Movchan’s relationship with coffee began in childhood. She recalls her mother, a fan of a strong brew, introducing her to caffeine. “I grew up thinking that was the only way to drink coffee,” she noted.

It wasn’t until Movchan enrolled in a three-week detox program in December 2020 that she truly examined her coffee consumption. The detox program mandated avoiding alcohol, greasy foods, and, significantly, coffee. Movchan described the initial stages of this detox as challenging, stating, “It was very hard for me at the beginning; I experienced terrible withdrawal symptoms.”
Arising from the detox, her headaches persisted throughout the day, coupled with overwhelming fatigue and a lack of mental clarity. “I felt such insane brain fog,” she added, confessing that even committing to a workout was beyond her capability.
The change took four days to manifest. “On day four, I woke up and realized I felt more energized than ever, with no brain fog or fatigue,” she recounted. This unexpected improvement marked a pivotal moment in her detox journey.
Movchan acknowledged maintaining stable energy levels throughout the day without the peaks and valleys previously experienced from coffee consumption. “Removing caffeine from my morning routine shifted my energy dynamics dramatically. I realized I didn’t need it,” she stated.
Additionally, her productivity soared. She reported feeling alert and engaged at work without mundane post-lunch sleepiness. Surprisingly, Movchan noticed a marked improvement in her skin health as well. “My hands used to be extremely dry, especially in winter. I found that coffee may have been dehydrating me,” she explained.
In a business environment constantly seeking productivity enhancements, Movchan posits that caffeine often masks underlying fatigue. “It felt like an addiction to me. If you find it difficult to function without coffee, that signals an addiction,” she insisted.
Now, her mornings begin with a glass of water instead of coffee, demonstrating a significant lifestyle change. Movchan encourages others struggling with caffeine dependence to give quitting a chance, despite possible initial challenges. “Even if you think you can’t make it, just try for a week. The odds are high that you will feel better,” she advised.
Experts at the American Medical Association recently discussed the potential effects of caffeine, cautioning consumers to monitor their intake. They stated that the FDA considers a daily caffeine consumption of under 400 mg safe.
Dr. Nicole Clark, a neurologist, indicated that “two 8-ounce cups of coffee should serve as a general limit since a cup contains anywhere between 100 and 200 milligrams of caffeine.” As beneficial as caffeine can be for enhancing focus and endurance, excessive intake may lead to issues such as anxiety, migraines, and withdrawal symptoms.
For many, the key to reaping caffeine’s benefits is moderation. “Small, frequent doses of caffeine provide the best outcomes,” the AMA suggested.
Certified holistic nutritionist Robin DeCicco recommends that coffee drinkers assess their dependence by gradually reducing intake. “Reassessing how caffeine affects your performance can provide valuable insights,” she noted.
