Chris Pratt, the celebrated actor, recently shared a profound life experience that compelled him to make significant promises to God in a desperate plea for his son, Jack’s survival. The touching revelation came during an appearance on the popular show, Fox & Friends.
In 2012, Jack was born prematurely, arriving seven weeks early and weighing just 3 pounds, 10 ounces. This challenging moment marked a pivotal shift in Pratt’s perspective on faith and spirituality.
During the Fox & Friends interview, Pratt described the fear and uncertainty he felt as he faced potential health complications for his newborn son. He remarked, “The most impactful moment was when my son was born. He was born early and had some health scares. In that moment, I really made some deals with God, as you do when you’re praying.”
Pratt vividly recalled his prayer during that harrowing time, stating, “I felt like if you save my son, I will give you everything. I’ll give you my life. I’ll give you my platform. I won’t be ashamed to talk to you or talk about you.” He expressed immense gratitude that God answered his prayers, saying, “And he did save my son, and I’ve been trying to make good on that promise ever since.”
Jack is the son of Pratt and his ex-wife, Anna Faris, whom he married in 2009. Since their split in 2017, the two have maintained a co-parenting relationship, ensuring that Jack receives love and support from both parents. Pratt has recently found happiness in his new marriage to Katherine Schwarzenegger, whom he wed in June 2019. The couple met at church, with Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver, playing an instrumental role in bringing them together.
Following their marriage, Pratt and Schwarzenegger welcomed two daughters. Their first child, Lyla, was born in August 2020, and their second daughter, Eloise, arrived in May 2022. These family milestones continue to fill Pratt with joy and purpose.
Pratt’s recent comments extend beyond his personal journey to touch on broader societal issues. He expressed concern over the challenges today’s youth face, particularly regarding mental health and the impact of technology. “It’s a tough time to be a kid, and the advent of the smartphone has created a lot of anxiety in young folks,” he noted during the interview.
In light of these challenges, Pratt has partnered with the Hallow prayer app to encourage its use among younger generations. He emphasized that smartphones can serve as tools for spiritual growth. “They aren’t going anywhere, but they can be used to learn more about Jesus,” Pratt affirmed. The app aims to help users develop a daily prayer routine and practice their faith more deeply.
Hallow presents a unique approach to engaging with spirituality, offering users 365 podcasts designed to guide them through the Bible in one year. Pratt acknowledged the difficulties many face in understanding Biblical texts. He explained, “It can be really hard to comprehend, to contextualize and to comprehend. They do a really great job of breaking it into bite-size pieces, reading it to you and then explaining to you what was just read.”
This period of Lent has also prompted personal reflection for Pratt, who revealed he is giving up sugar and social media. Lent is traditionally recognized as a season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, lasting 40 days and culminating in Easter. Pratt’s commitment illustrates his dedication to self-improvement and spiritual growth.
Throughout his journey, Pratt has consistently stated that faith remains the central aspect of his life. He believes that his commitment to God and his promises made during those early moments of Jack’s life have shaped his success and happiness. This public sharing of his experiences resonates with many who face their own challenges, offering inspiration and hope.
As Chris Pratt continues to navigate the complexities of fame and family, his steadfast dedication to his faith serves as a testament to the transformative power of belief during life’s most critical moments.
