Savannah Chrisley Expresses Relief Following Parents’ Return

Savannah Chrisley has shared her emotional relief as she welcomes her parents back home from prison. The 27-year-old reality television star opened up in her first interview since Todd and Julie Chrisley were released from federal custody.

Reunion with her family after more than two years apart brought a mix of joy and disbelief. “Oh my gosh, it has been amazing. It still just kind of … it doesn’t feel real,” Savannah remarked. She reminisced about her first night with them, highlighting their shared feelings of amazement. “We were going to bed last night. We’re like, ‘Is this real?’ And then, I wake up this morning and my mom’s walking into my bedroom, and I’m like, it’s absolutely insane!”

Adjusting to a New Norm

The adjustment for the Chrisley family has been significant as they navigate their new reality. Savannah described their emotions and the challenges they face in re-establishing a routine. “We are just so grateful and ready to kind of start getting back to normal life, obviously, the best we can,” she stated. Although she acknowledged the current whirlwind, Savannah expressed optimism about returning to normalcy.

Despite the initial shock her parents are experiencing, Savannah noted that they are doing well since their pardon by former President Donald Trump. “It’s obviously an adjustment. … I think they’re kind of just in shock right now,” she explained. Transitioning from prison life back into the typical flow of life can be overwhelming, especially after enduring 2.5 years of incarceration.

“It’s a lot for them, but they’re enjoying it. We’re all spending time together,” she added thoughtfully. Savannah has confidence in her parents’ ability to articulate their feelings when they are ready. She maintained that family communication remains strong during this time of transition.

Todd Chrisley Opens Up About His Prison Experience

Todd Chrisley, the patriarch of the reality series “Chrisley Knows Best,” spoke publicly for the first time since his release. During a press conference in Nashville, he shared insights about life behind bars. Humorously, he referred to his post-prison glow, saying, “I call it the BOP glow,” referencing the Bureau of Prisons. He emphasized that he now has access to better products and resources than during his time in prison.

Throughout his incarceration, Todd maintained a disciplined routine that included reading and exercising. “I had nothing to do other than to read and to work out. I worked out every morning at 10:45 until 12 with my buddies there … my walk with Christ became deeper,” he reflected. This dedication and faith played a crucial role in helping him cope during such a challenging time.

Upon his release, Todd described the moment he reunited with his family. “I don’t even know that I felt like it was real at that moment. And I woke up the first morning, and I was looking around, and I’m like, ‘This is really real. I’m home.’ So, I was grateful for our family to be all back in the same room, to be together, to share a meal together, and to pray together,” he expressed.

Julie’s Focus on Family After Prison

While Todd took the time to reflect on his journey, his wife Julie Chrisley is also finding her footing post-release. However, she was notably absent from the press conference. The family’s lawyer, Alex Little, provided an update on Julie’s status, stating, “I saw Julie yesterday. I think she’s doing well.” He stressed the importance of family unity after being separated for over two years. “You have to remember this is a family,” Little said, encapsulating the essence of their recovery process.

Todd added that Julie prefers to focus on spending quality time with their family. He described his wife as a “wonderful, decent, God-fearing woman” and expressed gratitude for their enduring partnership. “She’s at home with [daughter] Chloe right now, and Chloe will not let her go,” he said, highlighting the close bond with their granddaughter.

Chloe, whom the couple adopted, is the biological daughter of Todd’s estranged son Kyle. The couple’s commitment to family is evident as they navigate their journey together.

Overcoming Challenges Together

Throughout his imprisonment, Todd emphasized the importance of faith, family, and fitness in his life. These pillars supported him as he endured the trials of incarceration. Regular communication with his children — Savannah, Chase, and Grayson — proved vital in maintaining their connection.

The Chrisleys faced serious legal challenges when they were indicted in August 2019, ultimately facing charges of bank fraud, tax evasion, and conspiring to defraud the IRS. In June 2022, both Todd and Julie were convicted. Todd received a 12-year sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years.

Now, as a family, they look forward to building a future together away from the confines of prison. The road ahead may be difficult, but Todd and Savannah are determined to face it united.
