Understanding the Challenge of Weight Loss

In his discussion, Ford acknowledged the unique difficulties that come with losing weight, particularly for artists whose images are intertwined with their size. “Jelly has lost a significant amount of weight,” Ford shared. “When you’re a big guy, there’s always that lingering thought, ‘Will people still like me if I change?’ I’ve been there myself. But I assure him that authenticity and kindness prevail over appearances. They won’t care about the weight as long as he remains genuine.”

A Personal Journey to Health

Colt Ford has his own transformative weight loss journey, beginning in 2022 after being diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, which is an autoimmune disease causing muscle weakness. At his heaviest, Ford weighed 340 pounds, but through determination and lifestyle changes, he managed to drop down to 250 pounds.

Ford’s motivation intensified after a near-fatal heart attack in April 2024. This wake-up call prompted him to take his health seriously, leading to substantial lifestyle changes. “I’ve given up fried food and soda, and I’ve incorporated more walking into my routine,” he explained.

Breaking Old Habits

Reflecting on his past dietary choices, Ford candidly stated, “There were easier diets available. However, when I was heavier, seeing no results was disheartening. Sometimes, you just yearn for the comfort of fast food.” Now, he proudly shares that he has abstained from both soda and fried chicken since his heart scare.

Another significant milestone in Colt’s journey came when he declined his wife’s invitation to visit Waffle House for his 55th birthday. “When my wife Megan suggested Waffle House, I surprised myself by saying no. That was my victory moment,” he noted, reinforcing his commitment to healthier living.

Jelly Roll’s Parallel Journey

Similarly, Jelly Roll has been transparent about his own path to better health. By November 2024, he reported a remarkable weight loss of 110 pounds and was excited to showcase his transformation at the 2024 CMA Awards.
