A father from Virginia has voiced his concerns following an investigation by Loudoun County Public Schools into his son and two other students. This inquiry emerged after the boys questioned the presence of a biological female student in the boys’ locker room.
Reports indicate that on May 5, a biological female student identifying as male recorded conversations among three male students expressing discomfort regarding her presence in the locker room. This situation escalated when the transgender student filed a complaint, leading to a formal Title IX investigation by the school district over potential sexual harassment.
Seth Wolfe, father of one of the involved students, spoke to a news outlet about the incident. He described his son, a sophomore at Stone Bridge High School, as confused by the entire situation.
Wolfe stated, “This was a conversation that he was having among his peers. He wasn’t even questioning the student or anything like that. And then not being able to have those rights to even question that, and on top of that, being investigated, it’s very confusing.”
The legal counsel representing the boys, attorney Josh Hetzler from Founding Freedoms Law Center, emphasized their innocence. Hetzler asserted, “I want to make very clear: These boys did absolutely nothing wrong. All they did was ask, ‘Why is there a girl in our locker room?’ and they expressed concern. None of the boys ever spoke to this girl once, so there is no basis for this investigation.”
Hetzler further argued that the school’s gender policy is in violation of both state and federal laws, referencing executive orders issued by former President Donald Trump regarding gender identity.
He remarked on the unfairness of the situation, saying, “It’s truly an insane situation where the ones who are the real victims are the ones being punished.”
In light of the troubling incident, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced an investigation alongside Attorney General Jason Miyares into the locker room matter. The governor expressed alarm over the violation of student privacy in locker rooms and condemned the fact that the victims of this incident were being investigated.
Youngkin stated, “It’s deeply concerning to read reports of yet another incident in Loudoun County schools where members of the opposite sex are violating the privacy of students in locker rooms. Even more alarming, the victims of this violation are the ones being investigated—this is beyond belief. I’ve asked Attorney General Miyares to investigate this situation immediately so that every student’s privacy, dignity and safety are upheld.”
Loudoun County is not only facing this incident but is also under scrutiny regarding its gender identity policies, as the district is currently involved in another Title IX investigation initiated by the Trump administration.
When contacted for further comment, Loudoun County Public Schools issued a statement reiterating their commitment to protecting student privacy. They strongly rejected the notion that they discipline students for expressing personal opinions unless those expressions violate policies around hate speech or discriminatory language.
LCPS stated, “To be absolutely clear: Loudoun County Public Schools would not investigate or discipline students based on their personal opinions, thoughts, or beliefs, provided those expressions do not violate policies prohibiting hate speech, discriminatory language, threats, or other forms of harmful or disruptive conduct.”
They also emphasized their adherence to confidentiality protocols concerning student matters amid the investigation. LCPS underscored that they are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive educational environment for all students, free from harassment or discrimination.
As the investigation unfolds, LCPS stated that they cannot disclose further details to protect the students involved. However, they expressed disappointment over Virginia officials publicly criticizing the school based solely on the report.
The district continued, “We reject any characterization that implies our schools are unsafe or that we fail to protect the rights of all students. We remain steadfast in our legal and ethical obligation to uphold the rights of every student and will continue to create and nurture an environment that is welcoming and accepting for all students, so that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.”
The legal implications of the situation are scrutinized as the dialogue continues between parents, legal experts, and school officials. Fox News Digital has also reached out to the Virginia attorney general’s office and the LCPS Title IX coordinator for additional comments on this unfolding story.
As discussions about gender identity and student privacy in educational settings remain heated, this incident highlights the complex dynamics at play in modern school policies and the challenges they bring for students, parents, and administrators alike.
