The son of former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is facing significant backlash following a controversial incident during a professional wrestling event over the weekend.
Raja Jackson stepped into the ring and unleashed a flurry of attacks on pro wrestler Syko Stu at the KnokX Pro’s KnokXperience event held in California on Saturday night. The altercation, which was streamed live on Kick, showed Raja slamming Stu onto the mat and delivering more than 20 punches before being separated by fellow wrestlers.
Eyewitness reports indicate that Stu appeared to be left unconscious in the center of the ring, igniting a firestorm of criticism across social media platforms.
Quinton Jackson took to X to clarify the situation surrounding his son’s actions. He expressed his concerns, stating, “I want to clear up the misinformation about my son Raja. I’ve been informed that the wrestler, Stewart Smith—also known as Syko Stu—is awake and stable. Raja was unexpectedly hit in the side of the head by him moments before Smith’s match. Raja was given the impression that he could seek ‘payback’ during the match, which I believed was part of the show.”
He continued, “This was a case of poor judgment, a work gone awry. Raja is primarily an MMA fighter and should not have participated in an event like this. I do not condone my son’s actions AT ALL! He had just suffered a concussion from sparring days prior and should have avoided any kind of physical confrontation. As a father, I am deeply concerned for his health as well as the well-being of Mr. Smith. It is upsetting that any of this occurred, and my foremost hope is for Mr. Smith’s swift recovery. I apologize on Raj’s behalf and to KICK for this unfortunate incident.”
In response to the chaos that transpired, KnokX Pro publicly condemned the actions during the event. They released a statement on Facebook emphasizing their prioritization of Syko Stu’s recovery. The organization noted, “What was intended to be a planned and consensual wrestling spot devolved into an irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith. This egregious behavior is unacceptable and should never have happened. In our 17 years running the KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, nothing this heinous has occurred, and we sincerely apologize to our fans and patrons.”
The wrestling community reacted strongly to the incident. WWE star Rusev joined the chorus of voices on social media, sharing his disbelief and concern over the altercation. Rusev’s comments reflect the broader sentiment of outrage and disappointment felt within the professional wrestling community.
Interestingly, Syko Stu is not just a professional wrestler; he is also a retired U.S. Army veteran who has used wrestling as a means of reintegration into civilian life. He has been candid about his struggles with PTSD, making the public’s concern for his safety all the more significant.
As of now, Raja Jackson has not publicly addressed the incident. His father, Quinton Jackson, had a brief career as a professional wrestler in Total Nonstop Action (TNA), providing a complex backdrop to the situation.
While the wrestling world may be divided over the incident, the safety of performers must remain a priority for all involved in the industry. The expectations of professionalism are paramount, especially when entertainment can quickly turn dangerous.
As the situation continues to unfold, attention will remain focused on Syko Stu’s recovery and the implications of Raja Jackson’s actions on both his career and the wrestling industry at large. The incident serves as a stark reminder of how vital it is for all participants in wrestling—be they amateurs or veterans—to uphold the integrity of the sport.
In these challenging moments, the wrestling community must work together to ensure such incidents do not recur and that safety protocols are strictly enforced. The importance of training, consent, and respect in the ring cannot be overstated.
As more updates emerge regarding the incident and the health of Syko Stu, fans and industry insiders alike will undoubtedly have their eyes peeled. Ensuring the well-being of performers and maintaining the spirit of professional wrestling should be the shared mission as we navigate the aftermath of this unfortunate event.
