Countdown Begins as Hamas Faces Deadline to Release Hostages Under New Peace Agreement

The clock is ticking on a crucial agreement aimed at the release of 48 hostages held by Hamas for over two years. Starting Thursday morning, the countdown will officially commence after the Israeli security cabinet and government convene to approve the recently negotiated deal.

According to reports, the deal was brokered with the help of Egyptian, Qatari, Turkish, and U.S. mediators. Once the Israeli government gives its green light, Hamas will have 72 hours to release the 20 hostages still believed to be alive, alongside the remains of 28 others who have reportedly died. The Israeli press agency TPS-IL notes that this release is expected to occur
