David Charvet’s Bold Move Away from Hollywood

David Charvet, once a household name from hit shows like Baywatch and Melrose Place, has stepped away from the glitz of Hollywood for nearly two decades. With a distinct focus on personal priorities, he has chosen a different path that aligns with his values and family life.

Transition to Construction

In 2008, Charvet embraced a new venture by launching Jones Builders Group with a business partner. This company specializes in the construction of luxury homes in the Los Angeles area. Charvet stated, “It was one way for me to leave Hollywood and to still be creative.” Each project reflects his desire to maintain a balanced life while ensuring he would be home to raise his children.

Family Comes First

Charvet, now 53, has openly shared his experiences about fatherhood and its impact on his career choices. He reflected, “I don’t miss the fame. I don’t miss the workload that we had because we used to work a lot, and it’s very hard to raise a family that way.” As his family grew, specifically with the birth of his children, Heaven Rain, now 18, and Shaya Braven, 17, he recognized that acting would need to take a backseat to family obligations.

He expressed his commitment to being a hands-on father, making significant lifestyle changes to support his family. With many productions filming outside of Los Angeles, he felt the need to remain close to home to foster meaningful family relationships.

Reflections on His Hollywood Past

When Charvet and his then-wife, Brooke Burke, began their family, he made a promise: to be a present and participative father. After seven years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in 2018, finalizing their divorce in 2020. The transition was challenging yet necessary, and it allowed Charvet to focus on what truly mattered in his life.

Despite leaving his acting career behind, Charvet has admired the relationships he built in Hollywood. He reminisced, “I miss the camaraderie that I had with the people on the sets. I had old-school producers and old-school people that worked as a unit, and it was a real family.” Yet, he affirmed, “I wouldn’t change anything.” His family and personal growth have reshaped his perspective tremendously.

Building a New Legacy

Charvet’s construction company has thrived, with Jones Builders partnering with various businesses, including the fitness studio Burn LA. Under the ownership of Maria Chase, Burn LA has expanded significantly, with plans for additional locations in Miami and New York City.

“I’m learning more today than I ever thought I would ever learn,” Charvet commented on the challenges of scaling his business while preserving its essential qualities. He emphasized the importance of hospitality in his work, where delivering exceptional service is paramount.

A Journey of Self-Discovery

In past interviews, Charvet reflected on his personal evolution after stepping away from the limelight. He had previously spent five years traveling across 42 countries doing concerts during his musical career. Understanding that such a lifestyle was incompatible with his new role as a father sparked significant change in his priorities.
