According to a recent report published by The New York Times, liberal strategists are actively urging influential party donors to invest tens of millions of dollars in developing a network of left-leaning online influencers. These efforts are intended to bolster the party’s cultural influence, crucial for countering public figures like President Joe Biden and his Republican counterparts.

As noted in the report, this initiative represents an ambitious, some might say desperate, attempt to enhance the Democrats’ cultural standing online. The initiative stems from a realization that right-leaning media phenomena, such as Rogan’s popular podcast, emerged organically rather than through political funding.

Specifically, a group of Democratic operatives convened in Washington after the election and formulated a plan to establish AND Media, which stands for Achieve Narrative Dominance. This for-profit media company aims to financially support social media influencers who align with liberal values.

The organization has ambitious goals, aiming to raise $45 million over the next four years. So far, AND Media has successfully secured $7 million. Their strategy involves directly funding influencers and aiding in the production of their content. They plan to operate as a talent agency for creators and forge partnerships with several flagship creators whose voices they wish to amplify.

Emerging Projects Focus on Accountability and Support

In addition to AND Media, another initiative titled Project Bullhorn aims to rally donations in support of liberal content creators. This project seeks to raise $35 million in its inaugural year. During a recent donor meeting, Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey reportedly participated, underscoring the significance of this effort within the party.

Moreover, projects like Channel Zero plan to offer administrative assistance to influencers boasting extensive followings, while Double Tap Democracy aims to collaborate with approximately 2,000 apolitical influencers with smaller audiences. Such diversification strategies reflect a concerted attempt to rejuvenate Democratic messaging and connect with citizens on various platforms.
