In a heartfelt tribute, President Donald Trump shared his sorrow over the death of WWE icon Hulk Hogan. The wrestling legend, who captured the hearts of millions around the world, passed away recently, prompting an outpouring of condolences from fans and celebrities alike.
Trump, who had a long-standing friendship with Hogan, took to Truth Social to express his grief. He recognized Hogan’s significant impact in both the wrestling arena and popular culture. Trump reminisced about Hogan’s memorable speech at last year’s Republican National Convention, calling it one of the event’s highlights.
“We lost a great friend today,” Trump wrote. “Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive.”
Trump’s message continued with sentiments directed towards Hogan’s family. He expressed his condolences, saying, “To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!”
The wrestling icon, whose real name was Terry Bollea, reportedly died from a possible cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Emergency responders arrived at the scene after receiving a medical call, where Hogan was subsequently transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to a statement from the Clearwater Police Department, the call about a cardiac arrest came in around 9:51 a.m. on that fateful day. “A 71-year-old resident, Terry Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews before being taken by Sunstar to Morton Plant Hospital,” the report confirmed.
The wrestling community, including the WWE, released statements mourning Hogan’s passing. “WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away,” the organization stated. They acknowledged his role in helping WWE achieve global prominence during the 1980s and extended their condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.
Prior to his death, Hogan faced various health challenges, although his wife, Sky, had denied any alarming health reports. She insisted that her husband was recovering and maintained a robust spirit. This discrepancy serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictability of life as well as the challenges that have faced Hogan in recent years.
In July 2024, Hogan publicly endorsed Trump for his presidential campaign during the RNC, invoking his signature phrase, “Let Trump-a-mania make America great again.” This playful nod to his wrestling persona garnered applause from the crowd and showcased the enduring bond between the two men.
Hogan’s admiration for Trump transcended party lines and years. They shared a mutual respect, which Hogan articulated when he voiced his horror over an assassination attempt on Trump. He stated that “they took a shot at my hero” and dramatically pulled his shirt to reveal a Trump-Vance 2024 shirt, showcasing his unwavering support.
His sharing of enthusiasm for Trump’s endeavors is reminiscent of the camaraderie fans have witnessed over the years between the wrestling icon and the former president. Hogan is known for his colorful personality and larger-than-life presence, making his support for Trump all the more memorable.
As an American icon, Hogan has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment and wrestling industries. Many fans remember him not just for his flashy persona, but also for his genuine heart and kindness. Following his passing, numerous tributes have emerged from fans and fellow wrestlers alike, all echoing the sentiment that Hogan’s larger-than-life personality connected with so many people across different generations.
On social media, key figures have paid their respects, including current Vice President JD Vance, who also expressed his condolences. Vance described Hogan as a mentoring figure from his childhood and reminisced about their last interaction, where they promised to have a drink together in the future. “The next time will have to be on the other side, my friend! Rest in peace,” Vance wrote.
Hogan’s contribution to wrestling and his ability to unite people through sports entertainment will forever remain part of his legacy.
