Elon Musk is attributing a series of nationwide protests against his electric vehicle company, Tesla, to left-wing billionaire George Soros and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, among others. Musk claims these individuals are financially supporting what he describes as destructive protests targeting Tesla facilities.
As these protests occur, instances of vandalism against Tesla vehicles and charging stations have also been reported. However, the connection between the protests and the vandalism remains unclear. On Sunday morning, Musk took to his social media platform X to assert that an investigation revealed five groups funded by ActBlue as the culprits behind the protests.
Musk tweeted, “An investigation has found 5 ActBlue-funded groups responsible for Tesla ‘protests’: Troublemakers, Disruption Project, Rise & Resist, Indivisible Project, and Democratic Socialists of America.” He highlighted Soros and Hoffman as primary funders of the alleged anti-Tesla efforts.
Musk further claimed that ActBlue, known for fundraising for Democratic campaigns, is under investigation for permitting foreign and illegal donations, allegedly in violation of campaign finance laws. ActBlue has raised millions of dollars for various Democratic candidates, including Vice President Harris.
In a follow-up tweet, Musk mentioned that this week seven senior officials from ActBlue, including the associate general counsel, resigned from their positions. He encouraged his followers to share any relevant information.
Protesters and vandals have targeted Tesla dealerships, cars, and charging stations across the United States. This unrest appears to stem from Musk’s association with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, a program designed to identify and eliminate wasteful spending within the federal government.
One notable organization leading protests against Musk, Indivisible, was established by former Democratic congressional staffers. They encouraged liberals to take action against Musk’s policies and even provided a toolkit advising supporters on how to challenge him more effectively.
On Saturday, demonstrators gathered outside Tesla dealerships, carrying signs that criticized Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, with reports confirming protests in locations like Decatur, Georgia.
Earlier this week, a Tesla dealership in Oregon, situated ten miles south of Portland, was struck by gunfire, damaging several vehicles. The AP reported that this incident coincided with the protests against the company.
In another troubling event, authorities arrested a man in connection with the tossing of Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership in Salem, Oregon, illustrating the escalating violence linked to these protests. Additionally, several Tesla charging stations in Massachusetts have suffered arson attacks.
Amid protests, police in Brookline arrested a Boston resident who was allegedly filmed tagging Tesla vehicles with Musk-related decals. This incident marks just one of many recent acts of vandalism against the company.
In Colorado, the U.S. attorney’s office charged a 42-year-old individual, Lucy Grace Nelson, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, with possessing explosives and sending threatening messages after authorities discovered them at a local Tesla dealership.
In the wake of these protests, some politicians are expressing concerns regarding the negative rhetoric surrounding Musk. Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida commented on these issues during an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters, stressing that political opposition to Musk seems driven by a desire to improve polling numbers.
Luna remarked, “People have said that they know that attacking Elon Musk is actually good for their polling numbers, so they’re going to continue to do it.” She also referenced Musk’s previous comments concerning the heightened threats against his life.
As tensions intensify between pro and anti-Musk factions, the ongoing discourse raises questions about the extent of organized opposition against him. This situation reflects broader political divisions in America, where high-profile figures like Musk often become focal points for political action and backlash.
Despite reaching out for comments, Fox News Digital did not receive responses from either George Soros or Reid Hoffman regarding these allegations. Their silence could reflect the contentious nature of the current political environment surrounding high-profile entrepreneurs.
As this story develops, the implications for Tesla and its CEO remain significant. With allegations of financial backing for protests and increasing tensions, the future trajectory of events at Tesla may hinge on both public response and legal scrutiny of the organizations involved.
