The Initial Search and Disappearance
Jennifer’s car was later discovered abandoned about a mile from her apartment. Surveillance footage captured an unidentified person parking her vehicle and subsequently leaving the area, but the individual’s identity remains a mystery.
After Jennifer’s workplace alerted them about her absence, Drew Kesse attempted to call her, adhering to a family rule that they would always answer each other’s calls. Yet, her phone went directly to voicemail.
“I knew something was wrong immediately,” Drew recalled.
A Troubling Response from Authorities
With growing concerns, Drew and Joyce drove two hours from their home in Tampa to Orlando, where they found their daughter’s apartment in disarray. Clothes were laid out on her bed, but there was no sign of Jennifer. They immediately contacted the Orlando Police Department to report their daughter missing.
“The officers searched her apartment and shrugged it off, suggesting she had a fight with her boyfriend and would return,” Drew stated. “That moment marked Jennifer’s last chance.”
The Kesses took legal action against the Orlando Police Department to gain access to Jennifer’s case file. The file spans over 16,000 pages, reflecting the extensive investigation that has yet to yield answers.
“It’s exhausting. It drains you physically, mentally, and emotionally, which ultimately affects your health,” the Kesses expressed in a statement.
New Investigative Efforts and Technology
Now under the oversight of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the case has drawn renewed attention. The Kesses are exploring innovative investigative techniques, including collaboration with an artificial intelligence firm to analyze video footage and case files.
One of their primary focuses is to identify the person of interest captured in the surveillance video, particularly by examining physical characteristics.
“An ear, like an eye or a fingerprint, is unique to each person,” Drew noted. “When we can identify the ear, we will know who the person is.”
Recent Advances in DNA Testing
Jennifer’s parents reported that DNA samples were recently tested, and investigators are closer than ever to pinpointing individuals they wish to interview regarding the case. As they wait for concrete leads, they maintain their belief that Jennifer was taken shortly after her disappearance.
“I truly think that Jennifer was abducted and taken far from the area, possibly even out of state or country,” Drew asserted, suggesting that she might have been targeted while alone.

Now approaching 70 years old, Drew and Joyce Kesse’s determination remains unshaken. They have spent two decades searching for their daughter and continue to push for breakthroughs in the case.
“Until we pass, we will not give up,” Joyce forcefully stated. “We will do whatever it takes to find her.”
