Encino Residents Urge Action Amid Rising Crime Wave

Residents in an exclusive area of Los Angeles are expressing growing frustration towards local leaders, particularly Democrat Mayor Karen Bass, in response to a recent surge in crime. One resident described the community as “on edge,” emphasizing the urgent need for increased safety measures.

The call for enhanced security measures follows the tragic incident involving well-known American Idol music producer Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, who were found dead in their home on July 14. This shocking case has intensified concerns over safety within the Encino neighborhood.

Authorities believe Kaye and Deluca were victims of a double homicide on July 10. Earlier, police received two calls regarding a potential burglary at their residence. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, has been charged with the double homicide. Officials have indicated that the killings appear to be random acts of violence.

A neighbor revealed to Fox News Digital that the suspect had ongoing mental health struggles and reportedly exhibited troubling behavior, including stalking attempts. “He had mental health issues. He would walk by all day with knives flashing at our Ring cameras,” the resident recounted. “He was kind of stalking one of my sons online, trying to befriend him. Thankfully, my son declined.”

Rob Glushon, president of the Encino Property Owners Association and a neighbor of the deceased couple, highlighted that the recent double murder reflects a broader trend of rising crime in the area. Glushon recounted his own tragedy, noting that a close neighbor and her husband were killed during a burglary, adding that it is alarming to see such incidents increase. “People are on edge because everyone knows someone who has been victimized,” he stated. “This unsettling atmosphere is not normal.”

On July 31, Glushon joined a group of concerned Encino residents who convened outside Van Nuys City Hall to present a list of demands directed at city officials. Their requests include bolstering resources for the Los Angeles Police Department in their neighborhood, as reported by FOX 11.
