An acquaintance later confirmed his identity, referring to him as “Lee” from Indiana.

Colin McCallin, a Colorado-based lawyer and former deputy district attorney, admitted that adopting multiple aliases is unusual and may indicate an attempt to avoid being recognized. He noted that the avoidance of his real name suggests Barry Morphew may have been trying to cultivate a double life while living in Arizona.

Prosecutors claimed in the June 20 indictment that certain chemicals, specifically butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine, were discovered in Suzanne Morphew’s bone marrow. Allegedly, Barry Morphew had utilized the deer tranquilizer known as “BAM” to sedate and transport deer while residing in Indiana.

According to investigators, Barry Morphew was the only individual with a prescription for this tranquilizer in his vicinity. The only other entities permitted access to the BAM compound were Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the National Park Service.

The indictment strongly asserts that when Suzanne Morphew disappeared, Barry was the only private citizen in that entire state area with access to BAM. This crucial element of evidence underscores the unique position he held concerning the tranquilizer.
