EXCLUSIVE: Recent intelligence from the FBI suggests that some officials within the Venezuelan government are likely facilitating the migration of members of the violent gang Tren de Aragua from Venezuela to the United States. This movement aims to support the Maduro regime’s goal of undermining public safety in America, as reported by Fox News Digital.
A senior administration official exclusively shared unclassified portions of the FBI’s intelligence assessment regarding the Venezuelan government’s intricate relationship with Tren de Aragua.
In a notable shift, President Donald Trump designated Tren de Aragua, alongside several other migrant gangs operating in the U.S., as a foreign terrorist organization shortly after assuming office.
Sources informed Fox News Digital that the FBI believes Venezuelan government officials are using Tren de Aragua members as proxies to destabilize nations such as Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, and the United States. This assessment underscores Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s willingness to infringe upon the territorial integrity of neighboring countries to further his regime’s agenda.
Over the next six to eighteen months, the FBI anticipates that Venezuelan officials will attempt to leverage Tren de Aragua operatives in the U.S. as proxy actors. These individuals may threaten, abduct, or even kill Venezuelan expatriates in the United States who criticize Maduro’s regime.
The FBI foresees an increase in similar activities throughout South America as well, intensifying regional security concerns.
According to a senior administration official, “These findings should shock Americans but are not surprising to the law enforcement community. They align with sentiments expressed in numerous intelligence assessments spanning multiple agencies.” Further details from these assessments, however, remain classified.
The assessment paints a troubling picture of Nicolás Maduro, described as a Marxist dictator who has plunged Venezuela into economic turmoil and allowed gangs to flourish. “He has collapsed Caracas, which now suffers from rampant drugs and violence, and seeks to do the same across the United States by sending his most violent criminals into American communities,” the official stated.
The Maduro regime, labeled a dictator by American lawmakers, is poised to retain power until at least 2031. The administration is committed to leveraging every available resource to prevent Tren de Aragua terrorists, among the most hazardous in the world, from gaining entry into the country.
Fox News Digital also communicated with an official from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, who spoke under the condition of anonymity. The official elaborated on the FBI’s assessment, which is rooted in its domestic law enforcement initiatives targeting Tren de Aragua in the United States.
“This intelligence is among the most comprehensive and precise, focusing on domestic security and crimes, as opposed to limited assessments from other agencies concentrating solely on foreign intelligence collection,” the official explained.
The ODNI official outlined that Tren de Aragua leaders have historically thrived under conditions fostered by the Venezuelan government. “The Venezuelan government harbors Tren de Aragua, facilitating their crimes and terrorist activities against the United States, which allows them to flourish,” the official remarked.
Interestingly, unlike many nations, the Maduro regime appears eager to welcome violent criminals back into Venezuela, suggesting a perception of these individuals as allies. This behavior mirrors that of the Taliban in Afghanistan, as well as other failed states in the Middle East such as Syria and Libya.
Recently, the Associated Press reported on a classified assessment from the National Intelligence Council. Sources indicated this assessment found no direct coordination between Tren de Aragua and the Venezuelan government, prompting ire from some officials.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard criticized the report, alleging that the officials involved in leaking classified information weaponized the intelligence to undermine Trump’s administration. Gabbard stated, “The misuse of intelligence to derail the President’s agenda is a direct assault on democracy.”
The ODNI official maintained that unclassified information currently shared highlights facts derived from intelligence that the leakers and parts of the media have conveniently omitted to uphold a biased narrative.
The recent release of this unclassified information coincides with the Trump administration’s filing of its first racketeering charges against Tren de Aragua members and their associates in New York.
This legal action is a component of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at mobilizing full government resources to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and protect communities from violent crime.
The charges encompass serious offenses such as human smuggling, sex trafficking, and murder against 27 alleged Tren de Aragua members. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, 21 of the accused gang members are presently in federal custody, with many having been detained in connection to ongoing federal criminal proceedings or immigration violations.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi remarked on the significance of these charges, stating, “Today’s indictments and arrests span three states and will severely impact the infrastructure of Tren de Aragua as we aim to fully dismantle this organization in our country.”
Bondi asserted, “Tren de Aragua is not merely a street gang; it operates as a well-organized terrorist entity that devastates American families through violence, engages in human trafficking, and spreads deadly substances throughout our communities.”
As the U.S. prepares to confront this growing threat, it is clear that the fight against such organizations is crucial for maintaining national and regional security.
