A Dangerous History
Among those arrested was Javier Dimas-Alcantara, a Mexican national whose extensive criminal record includes a staggering 67 prior jail bookings dating back to 1986, as well as a prior conviction related to fentanyl trafficking. This alarming history of offenses includes multiple arrests for drug-related charges, firearm possession, burglary, and previous incidents of illegal entry.
In addition to narcotics offenses, Dimas-Alcantara has faced various charges related to reoffending, including providing false identification to law enforcement, demonstrating a troubling pattern of illegal activity.
Federal Officials Condemn Sanctuary Policies
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin strongly criticized the defenders of sanctuary cities. She expressed her concerns regarding politicians who prioritize these policies over community safety. McLaughlin stated, “Dimas has been convicted of a myriad of offenses — you would not want this man to be your neighbor, and yet politicians like [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom defend criminals who terrorize American communities and demonize law enforcement who defend those same communities.”
Furthermore, she pointed out that instead of obstructing federal law enforcement efforts, politicians should appreciate the actions taken to remove high-risk individuals from American communities.

Additional Apprehensions
Alongside Dimas-Alcantara, agents apprehended several other individuals during the operation. These included a Guatemalan migrant with previous felony offenses and a Mexican migrant previously deported for driving without a license. Another detainee was a Guatemalan individual who had a voluntary return removal in 2009 and had prior arrests for trespassing and failure to provide identification.
