Florida TikTok Influencer Arrested Again for Fleeing Police and Probation Violations

A Florida TikTok influencer and mother of two, Marlena Velez, was arrested over the weekend after attempting to evade police by hiding inside a parked SUV. This incident marks another chapter in her ongoing legal troubles, which began nearly a year ago.

Chasing Down Criminal Charges

Cape Coral law enforcement officials apprehended Velez, 23, on October 12 while responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle. After weeks of evading police, she was taken into custody due to a probation violation and a fleeing charge linked to a September traffic stop.

According to the Cape Coral police department, officers identified a gray 2022 Kia Sorento associated with Velez during their patrol. Initially, they spotted her in the passenger seat, but moments later, she tried to conceal herself on the vehicle’s floorboard.

Surveillance and Evidence

The police report details that officers used a flashlight to locate her during the stop. Velez’s attempt to hide ultimately did not succeed, as the officers confirmed her identity through dispatch.

Both Velez and the driver of the vehicle were detained, and law enforcement found outstanding warrants associated with her name. Velez currently faces two counts of probation violation and one count of fleeing and eluding police. She remains in custody at the Lee County Jail without bond.

Previous Incidents Raising Eyebrows

This latest arrest follows a high-speed incident on September 29, when an officer recognized Velez driving erratically through a residential neighborhood. Instead of pulling over, she reportedly sped away from the officer, prompting a disengagement of the chase for safety reasons. This encounter led to the additional fleeing charge that Velez now faces.

The beginnings of Velez’s legal issues trace back nearly a year ago, with accusations of theft at a Cape Coral Target store. Authorities alleged that she used counterfeit barcodes to purchase products at lower prices, an act caught on store surveillance and documented on her social media channels.

The Role of Social Media

Law enforcement narrowed in on Velez after receiving a tip via social media. They confirmed her identity by cross-referencing her Instagram and TikTok posts, which showcased her activities around the time of the alleged thefts. She was arrested days later at the same Target for a repeat offense.

Unfazed by Legal Problems

Despite the increasing number of legal issues, Velez continues to maintain an active presence on TikTok, where her account, @marlenavelezz, has amassed over 528,000 followers and 11.8 million likes. Her profile features a blend of lifestyle content, family vlogs, and
