Former College Football Player Arrested for Murder Following Bar Shooting in Florida

Former College Football Star Faces Serious Charges

A former college football player now confronts murder charges after a tragic incident in a bar in Florida over the weekend. Local law enforcement confirmed the arrest of Avantae Traeviyon Williams, who allegedly shot and killed a man during a violent altercation.

Details of the Incident

Williams, a former defensive back at the University of Maryland, was apprehended by the DeLand Police Department on Monday. He faces a second-degree murder charge involving a firearm. This incident unfolded just days after Keshod Harris, a 32-year-old man, was fatally shot at a DeLand bar.

According to police reports, officers from both the DeLand Police Department and Volusia Sheriff’s Office received calls about a shooting at approximately 1:30 a.m. Witness accounts describe a fistfight escalating inside the establishment, with one individual brandishing a firearm.

Williams, identified as the shooter, fled the scene after the incident. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. A bartender also sustained gunshot wounds, but fortunately, doctors expect him to recover.

Ongoing Investigation

Police indicate that this remains an open investigation. The DeLand Police Department issued a statement urging anyone with information to come forward. Approximately 40 patrons were inside McCabe’s Bar during the incident, and they may possess crucial information relevant to the inquiry.
