Former Congressman Condemns Democratic Party Over Health Cover-Up Regarding Biden

Former Representative Dean Phillips from Minnesota has sharply criticized the Democratic Party for allegedly concealing President Joe Biden’s deteriorating mental health. In a revealing op-ed published Thursday in The Free Press, Phillips expressed deep concern over the party’s ongoing deception regarding Biden’s cognitive decline.

Lack of Transparency Erodes Public Trust

Phillips asserted that the party’s habit of “constant lying and gaslighting” regarding Biden’s health has led to a significant loss of trust among the electorate. The former congressman outlined several instances exhibiting Biden’s decline, stating that he believes the leadership has failed the party and the nation by allowing Biden to pursue a second term.

Observations of Decline

With firsthand experience from two occasions in 2021 when he interacted closely with Biden during Democratic Caucus meetings, Phillips described observing alarming shifts in the president’s communication skills, physical coordination, and overall leadership ability. He recalled, “I had a front-row seat… I was alarmed to see the president’s obvious decline.” Such observations prompted Phillips to question Biden’s fitness for office.

Calls for Action Ignored

Following a White House holiday party in December 2022, Phillips stated that Biden’s decline became painfully evident. Phillips voiced his concerns privately to colleagues, stating, “My opinion wasn’t an outlier. My congressional colleagues, like me, had eyes; behind closed doors we acknowledged the reality.” He was troubled by the passive reaction of Democratic leadership in the face of obvious challenges.

Attempting to ignite a more competitive primary, Phillips reached out to influential Democrats such as California Governor Gavin Newsom and Senators Amy Klobuchar and Kamala Harris. His calls for them to join the race went unanswered, leading to his decision to enter the presidential race himself.

Aiming to Foster Healthy Debate

“I was trying to spark a competitive primary—and at the very least to force a single, televised debate for Americans to assess the president and other candidates firsthand,” Phillips stated. He emphasized the importance of transparency, hoping that the public would be able to see what he had witnessed and what he alleged the White House was attempting to conceal.

Facing Challenges from Party Leadership

Phillips reported facing strong opposition from Democratic leadership as he sought to challenge Biden. He recounted a discouraging conversation with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ chief of staff, who informed him that he would be shut out from discussions with Biden or any White House officials. This barrier exemplified the overpowering influence of party leadership.

Media Influence and Obstacles

Moreover, Phillips alleged that the media played a crucial role in thwarting his candidacy. According to him, he quickly became a persona non grata within the Democratic framework, as media outlets like MSNBC, manipulated by former Biden staffers, actively worked to diminish his visibility as a candidate.

“Almost immediately, the party mechanism was activated, and I became persona non grata. The media… deplatformed me and those supporting me,” he claimed. He described his frustration with the Democratic National Committee, implying that they engaged in efforts to block candidates who did not align with Biden.

Concerns for Electoral Integrity

Phillips accused the Democratic leadership of launching a coordinated effort to preserve Biden’s position, arguing that it constituted a significant blow to democratic principles. He asserted, “This wasn’t a fight for democracy, rather a coordinated fight against democracy—executed by a private corporation with no accountability to voters.” His words underscored a fundamental concern over the direction of the party and its commitment to democratic ideals.

Call for Accountability and Redemption

Despite voicing a multitude of criticisms against party leadership, Phillips also pointed out a path for redemption for the Democratic Party. He urged those aware of Biden’s cognitive challenges to come forward. “The first step is for everyone that was aware of Biden’s condition to come clean. No more evasions. No more insistence that he was sharp when you met him,” he insisted.

In Search of Truth

Phillips further questioned the complicity of established party leaders. He posed a provocative question, asking, “If a relatively little-known congressman like me knew that Biden was incapable of leading the country in a second term, what does that say about the complicity of the real party bosses whose names we all know?” His challenge resonated with those concerned about leadership accountability.

Moving Forward with Integrity

In his commentary, Phillips delivered an urgent message regarding the future trajectory of the Democratic Party. He argued against protecting leaders at the expense of credibility, emphasizing that genuine transparency is essential for rebuilding public confidence. “Protecting a president or institution at the cost of its credibility is a shortsighted and losing proposition,” he stated.

Phillips concluded his commentary with an insightful reminder: “Democratic leaders and messengers must understand that sunlight is not our enemy, but rather the only way to earn the public’s confidence in our party.” His words served as both a caution and a call to action for a party at a critical juncture in its history.
