Former DOGE Employee Edward Coristine Shares Harrowing Experience of D.C. Attack

Edward Coristine, a former employee of DOGE, recently recounted a traumatic experience during an appearance on the program ‘Jesse Watters Primetime.’ The young man was attacked by a group of teenagers in Washington D.C.’s Logan Circle neighborhood this past summer, leaving him injured and shaken.

A Night That Escalated Quickly

The assault occurred around 3 a.m. on August 3 when Coristine was out with friends. A 15-year-old from Hyattsville, Maryland, has since pleaded guilty to several charges, including felony assault and robbery, linked to the incident.

Reflecting on the night of the attack, Coristine explained that he was in the process of escorting a female friend to her car when they encountered trouble. As he described it, a group of ten young men loomed across the street, shouting at them. It didn’t take long for him to sense that something was amiss.

Fear and Panic

“I was walking one of my friends back to her car, and as we were moving, there was this group of ten guys right across the street,” Coristine said. “They start shouting at us. And really quickly, I knew something was really off about the situation.”

In a moment of quick thinking, Coristine ushered his friend into the car and ensured she locked the doors. However, the group of teenagers was relentless. “They slammed me against the car,” he recalled. “They started throwing a bunch of punches. I kept my hands up. Luckily, the whole thing didn’t last long.”

Police Response and Aftermath

The swift arrival of the police was a stroke of luck for Coristine. He suffered a broken nose and a concussion but recognized that the outcome could have been much worse. “The police showed up pretty quickly, so I was very fortunate,” he noted.

A Call to Service

When discussing his motivations for moving to Washington D.C. and working for DOGE, Coristine expressed a deep sense of duty. “I felt a great responsibility to serve my country,” he stated. His family’s history influenced this feeling; his grandfather had been a KGB double agent working with the Americans. Coristine shared, “He died so that I could come here and live in this free country that I love so much.”

Coristine also spoke candidly about the pressing issues he perceives in the country today. “When I started seeing these problems like the $37 trillion national debt and counting, I was like, wow, this is insane. Is there any way that I can help solve this?” His passion to contribute to change spurred him to take action when the opportunity arose.

A Broader Conversation on Crime in D.C.

The assault received significant media attention, including remarks from President Donald Trump, who responded shortly after the incident. He characterized crime in Washington D.C. as being “totally out of control.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized local youths and gang members, some as young as 14, for engaging in random attacks and muggings. “They are not afraid of law enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now!” he stated.

Call for Solutions and Change

The ongoing discussions surrounding crime in Washington D.C. have echoed through various media outlets and social platforms, raising questions about how to address the growing violence. Coristine’s story adds a personal face to these statistics, illustrating the profound impacts of urban crime on individuals and communities.

As conversations about safety, responsibility, and the needs for societal change intensify, the voices of those affected become crucial in framing potential solutions. Individuals like Coristine are not just victims but advocates who can drive meaningful conversations about public safety and community well-being.
