EXCLUSIVE– A former television anchor in Illinois has opened up about her decision to leave her position after being suspended for a tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Beni Rae Harmony, who previously worked at WICS-ABC20 in Springfield, expressed her determination to speak out in light of Kirk’s recent assassination.
Harmony’s resignation came on the heels of her airing a heartfelt segment honoring Kirk last Friday. After she refused to remove the post from her social media accounts, Harmony found herself facing suspension and possible termination.
The former anchor previously spent time with Turning Point USA, the advocacy organization founded by Kirk when he was just 18 years old, from 2021 to 2022.
During her conversation with Fox News Digital, Harmony recounted her emotional response when informed of her suspension. She recalled telling her superiors that she would not remain quiet about someone she had cared for deeply. She stated, “I said, ‘Well, I’m not gonna stick around for that.’ I resign, and I refuse to be silenced.'”
After the assassination of Kirk, she felt a strong urge to acknowledge his contribution to her life and the lives of others in her community. Harmony, who hosted the
