FOX News Channel Achieves Record Viewership in Third Quarter, Outpacing Major Rivals

In a significant turn of events, FOX News Channel has surged beyond its competition during the third quarter of 2025, leading the ratings among weekday primetime viewers. It has now claimed the top position in television for the entire year, marking a standout achievement in the ever-evolving media landscape.

Viewership Statistics Show Dominance

According to recent data, FOX News averaged 3.3 million viewers in weekday primetime through September. This figure surpassed CBS and ABC, both of which recorded 3.1 million viewers, and NBC, which garnered 3 million viewers. Furthermore, FOX News outperformed ESPN, which averaged 2.1 million viewers, and dominated cable news ratings, as MSNBC managed only 1.2 million and CNN reached a mere 641,000.

During the third quarter, FOX News maintained its lead with an average of 1.6 million total day viewers. Comparatively, MSNBC’s total day viewership peaked at 492,000, while CNN attracted 396,000 viewers. In primetime, FOX News shone brightly with 2.5 million total viewers compared to MSNBC’s 802,000 and CNN’s 538,000.

FOX News Maintains a Streak of Success

This quarter represents the 95th consecutive quarter where FOX News has finished number one in cable news for primetime viewer ratings. Such a consistent performance solidifies its reputation among the cable news giants.

Advertiser-Coveted Demographic Performance

Among the all-important demographic of adults aged 25-54, FOX News averaged 159,000 viewers throughout the day and an impressive 243,000 during primetime. This performance notably eclipsed the combined viewership of MSNBC and CNN. Interestingly, CNN recently recorded its lowest-rated quarter in network history for both total day and primetime segments among this demographic, while MSNBC saw figures not observed since 1998.
