Gal Dalal has embarked on a relentless quest to secure the freedom of his brother, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, who was abducted by Hamas during the tragic events at the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. This moment marked a devastating chapter in the ongoing crisis between Israel and Hamas.
Dalal emphasizes the importance of sharing his brother’s story beyond the publicized images. He aims to highlight Guy’s character and the urgency of his release from Gaza.
In an emotional conversation with Fox News Digital, Dalal reflected on his brother’s warm personality. “Guy is the most warm-hearted man I know. He has a great sense of humor and is truly my best friend. We share similar interests and do everything together,” he stated.
On that fateful October morning, Guy was set to enjoy his first spiritual festival with friends. Gal, a seasoned festival-goer, joined the group around 6:15 a.m., just moments before the chaos began.
Upon arrival, an excited Guy rushed to embrace his brother, and the two captured a selfie for their mother, a reminder of the last joyful moment they shared.
“I attended the Nova music festival to look after him, and coming back without him is the hardest part,” Gal shared with profound sorrow.
Unbeknownst to them, an alarming situation was unfolding. As sirens wailed, Gal suggested they seek refuge at his apartment. He left in his car, while Guy chose to stay with his friends. Gal estimates that Guy and his companions took another ten minutes to depart the festival area, unintentionally exposing themselves to danger despite the alarming sounds echoing nearby.
“We are accustomed to hearing alarms. We often hear missile alerts, but none expected such a large-scale terror attack,” Gal noted, highlighting the grim reality many Israelis face regarding safety protocols during rocket attacks.
Many festival attendees rushed to designated shelters alongside the road, which tragically proved to be lethal spots as Hamas terrorists initiated a systematic assault. Survivors recounted how grenades were tossed into clusters of people, resulting in severe casualties.
As Gal sat in traffic outside the festival, he gradually became aware of the unfolding violence. Listening to gunfire in the distance, he realized the gravity of the situation. Sadly, he could not return for Guy, but they managed to communicate one last time before Guy was taken hostage.
On the evening of October 7, the Dalal family learned the horrifying news. Guy and his close friend, Evyatar David, had been captured, and Hamas released a video confirming their abduction. Tragically, two other friends who attended the festival lost their lives during the attack.
Over the past 17 months, the Dalal family has not ceased advocating for the release of all hostages, including Guy. Gal expressed the emotional toll of this ongoing fight, stating, “While we are exhausted and barely holding on, our only priority is to see my brother again, to know he is safe, and to help him heal. I miss him dearly.”
Recently, the family received a troubling sign of life. Guy and Evyatar were coerced into participating in a Hamas propaganda video, where they were forced to witness other hostages being released, only for the door to be slammed shut before their own release.
Gal described the experience as psychologically torturous, reliving the harrowing moments of October 7. He expressed grave concern over the welfare of his brother and Evyatar, fearing they are being subjected to extreme deprivation.
“The thought that negotiations could prolong without assurance for Guy’s safety is terrifying. Time is not on our side,” Gal said, acknowledging the dire circumstances. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful that strategic intervention from global leaders, particularly President Trump, could aid in bringing hostages home.
In pursuit of his brother’s freedom, Gal traveled to the United States, where he had discussions with members of both the Biden and Trump administrations. He described the Trump administration’s approach as distinctly urgent, understanding the critical nature of the situation.
“I believe that the only ones who can exert the necessary pressure to return these hostages are President Trump and the United States. Your support and influence are vital to ensuring that the hostages are reunited with their families,” Gal asserted, embodying the desperation and hope that underpin his quest.
Gal Dalal’s enduring fight for his brother is not just a personal battle; it reflects the wider turmoil faced by families of hostages caught in geopolitical strife. His commitment to sharing Guy’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the human cost of conflict.
As the days stretch into months, the Dalal family’s struggle continues, highlighting the pressing need for international support and understanding. For Gal, this journey is fueled by love, hope, and an unwavering desire to reunite with his brother. The world watches as this emotional saga unfolds, offering a glimpse into the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable heartbreak.
