In a heartwarming reunion, 20 Israeli hostages returned to their families on Monday after enduring more than two years of captivity. Many expressed their gratitude to President Donald Trump and his administration for facilitating these much-anticipated homecomings.
Noa Argamani, who was abducted on October 7, 2023, alongside her partner Avinatan Or, expressed her overwhelming joy upon reuniting with him. “We have finally returned to each other,” Argamani exclaimed, referring to their long separation.
Argamani recounted the terrifying moment of her kidnapping, where she and Avinatan were forcibly taken from their home. “Two years passed since I last saw Avinatan, the love of my life. I was held captive by Hamas for 246 days, while Avinatan endured an agonizing 738 days in captivity,” she noted. Fortunately, they each found their way back home after a heroic rescue operation and a negotiated deal, respectively.
On social media, Argamani highlighted her appreciation for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for their courageous efforts in the rescue. Furthermore, she acknowledged the support from the U.S. government, particularly praising White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. “I cannot thank them enough for their exceptional work,” she added.
Lishay Miran-Lavi also praised President Trump and his team for their relentless pursuit of justice for families like hers. Her husband, Omri Miran, was seized during the same attack that took Argamani and Or. At that time, their daughter Alma was merely six months old, having known her father only through photographs displayed on posters.
Miran-Lavi shared a touching moment when her daughters, Roni and Alma, rushed into Omri’s arms, calling out “daddy” once more. She described that moment as deeply fulfilling and healing for their family.
Through her post, Miran-Lavi extended her heartfelt thanks to President Trump and his administration. She remarked on their unwavering commitment to bringing the hostages home from the outset, stating, “You made our cause your mission, and you never wavered in your support.” Furthermore, she expressed gratitude to Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his steadfast diplomacy during this challenging period.
In group settings and during news conferences, many other relatives of freed hostages shared their heartfelt thanks. They continuously expressed their appreciation for Trump’s leadership and the efforts made by his administration to secure their loved ones’ safe return.
At another news conference held at a medical center, family members of several hostages emphasized how vital support from Trump and his administration was during the dark days of uncertainty. They described the administration’s readiness to assist and listen through every stage of their ordeal.
On the same day the hostages were released, President Trump delivered remarks addressing Israel’s parliament, known as the Knesset. He stated, “This week, against all odds, we have accomplished the impossible and brought our hostages home.” His words resonated with families yearning for their loved ones’ safe return.
Throughout his presidential campaign last year, Trump vowed to prioritize the rescue of hostages and promised to work towards ending the ongoing conflict. His administration saw various rounds of hostage releases during the first ten months of his presidency, culminating in this week’s successful release of the remaining hostages.
The reunions of the freed hostages reflect not only personal joy but represent a broader message of hope amid adversity. Families like those of Argamani and Miran-Lavi have endured unimaginable pain, yet the fulfillment of their dreams offers a glimmer of light in dark times.
As the reunited families savor their emotional moments, they carry with them not just the weight of their experiences but also a renewed sense of purpose to advocate for those still facing captivity. Their voices echo the call for continued vigilance and compassion towards all affected by this ongoing conflict.
The love shared during these reunions ignites a fervent hope for future peace in the region and stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
