Hegseth Declares ‘New Era of Determination’ at Texas Southern Border During Trump Administration Visit

Hegseth Visits Southern Border, Prioritizing U.S. Sovereignty

On Monday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited the southern border in Texas, proclaiming a “new era of determination” as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to secure the border and combat illegal immigration.

“Thanks to President Donald Trump, this marks a new era at the southern border, one defined by determination and unity. At the Defense Department, we are proud to support this mission,” Hegseth stated during a press conference in El Paso after touring the border facility.

Focus on National Security

Hegseth underscored the administration’s commitment to prioritizing U.S. sovereignty over foreign engagement.

“Individuals from my generation have dedicated years to protecting borders in other countries. It’s time we secure our own border,” he emphasized.

Military Deployment Under Trump

On his first day in office, President Trump mobilized the U.S. military to the border, with over 1,500 troops already deployed. This measure has coincided with a notable decrease in encounters at the southern border.

“The service members at the border are eager to fulfill their duties, motivated by a desire to protect their communities from potential threats,” Hegseth remarked.

Support from Key Administration Figures

Hegseth’s visit is part of a broader strategy among Trump administration officials to address migration issues. Recent trips by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who visited the border to assess conditions and support Border Patrol, underscore this commitment. “Under President Trump, the era of open borders is a thing of the past,” Noem stated.

Moreover, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, fresh from a migration-focused week in office, has embarked on his first overseas mission to Latin America. His agenda will prioritize critical issues such as migration, drug trafficking, and gang violence.

Promises of Enhanced Security

During the visit, Hegseth shared the stage with border czar Tom Homan, who labeled the current government approach as a “game changer” for border security and deportations.

“Under the leadership of this president, we will achieve operational control of our southern border,” Homan asserted.
