Historic Seizure of Fentanyl Marks Major Blow to Drug Trafficking in the U.S.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a significant milestone in the battle against drug trafficking in the United States on Tuesday. Authorities have successfully seized 11.5 kilograms of fentanyl, including an astonishing three million pills, in what is now considered one of the largest fentanyl busts in U.S. history.

In addition to the massive fentanyl haul, Bondi reported the confiscation of around 35 kilograms of methamphetamine, 7.5 kilograms of cocaine, 4.5 kilograms of heroin, and $5 million in cash. The operation also resulted in the recovery of 49 firearms, including rifles and pistols.

Cartel Members Arrested

Members of the infamous Sinaloa cartel were implicated in this operation, with six individuals apprehended who were in the U.S. illegally. Among those arrested was Alberto Salazar Amaya, who was reportedly living in Salem, Oregon. The cartel’s drug distribution network extended to cities like Albuquerque, New Mexico, Phoenix, Arizona, and various locations across Utah.
