During his appearance on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream, Johnson expressed confidence in House Republicans’ commitment to assembling a comprehensive legislative package that Trump has called for. He stated that the party is focused on issues that resonate with American voters.
“Our goals are clear. We’re committed to securing the border and ensuring safety in American communities. Additionally, we aim to reignite American energy dominance and implement practical solutions that benefit our economy,” Johnson explained.
He noted that crafting such a wide-ranging bill requires careful consideration and that lawmakers have been diligently working on it for an extended period. “To accomplish everything we need in one significant bill requires time and thorough preparation. We’ve dedicated the past year to laying the groundwork through our committees,” he added.
With an eye on pragmatic governance, Johnson acknowledged that the passing of the budget will require consensus among House Republicans. “We planned a committee markup for next week, but we may postpone it slightly as we fine-tune the details. Remember, I operate with the narrowest majority in history—only a two-vote margin—so securing agreement among our members is crucial before we present a final proposal,” he said.
