Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson, who dedicated over a decade to serving the Murdaugh family, shared a pivotal moment that solidified her belief in Alex Murdaugh’s guilt regarding the murders of his wife, Maggie, and his son, Paul.
In an exclusive interview with a media outlet, Turrubiate-Simpson recounted the events leading up to her conviction that the disgraced South Carolina lawyer was responsible for the tragic deaths that occurred in 2021. She expressed her long-standing trust in Alex and her affection for the family she served diligently over the years.
Despite her feelings, Turrubiate-Simpson acknowledged that inconsistencies began to unravel her convictions after the shocking events of June 7, 2021, at the Murdaugh’s Moselle estate.
Initially, Turrubiate-Simpson believed there was no scenario in which Alex could have committed such heinous acts. However, as time passed, small details began to disturb her.
On the morning following the murders, she noted that Maggie’s Mercedes SUV was parked unusually—a deviation from her typical habits. Furthermore, she discovered pajamas and underwear neatly laid out near the laundry-room doorway, although Maggie had never worn underwear to bed according to Turrubiate-Simpson.
“I knew immediately that wasn’t her,” she stated in her memoir, “Within the House of Murdaugh: Amid a Unique Friendship – Blanca and Maggie,” co-authored with Mary Frances Weaver, set to release this month.
While inspecting Alex’s bathroom, Turrubiate-Simpson encountered a puddle of water accompanied by a towel and a pair of khaki pants that she recognized from the previous morning. In yet another unsettling twist, she noticed that a shirt Alex wore in a Snapchat video on the day of the murders had seemingly vanished.
As months progressed, Turrubiate-Simpson recounted an odd conversation with Alex. He inquired whether she remembered him wearing a Vineyard Vines shirt on the day of the tragic events. However, she recalled ironing a seafoam green polo instead. This pointed exchange appeared to her as an attempt by Alex to alter his narrative surrounding that fateful night.
“One thing was for sure,” she emphasized, “He was lying.”
A defining moment in Turrubiate-Simpson’s certainty about Alex’s guilt transpired during his murder trial in 2023. During the proceedings, she witnessed police bodycam footage that displayed a beach towel resting on the front seat of Alex’s car.
The memory of her freshly laundered towel, which she had meticulously washed, dried, and folded earlier that day, flooded her thoughts. It had been placed high on a shelf in the laundry room, and the sight of it in Alex’s vehicle shook her to the core.
“When I saw that towel in his car, I said, ‘Oh my God. He did it,’” she shared.
Turrubiate-Simpson postulated in her memoir that Alex might have rinsed himself off near the kennels and subsequently changed either there or back in the house. She theorized, “He went to the laundry room, grabbed the towel to finish drying himself, and possibly took the freshly washed T-shirt hanging there.”
Alex Murdaugh claimed he had been sleeping soundly in the main house at Moselle when Maggie and Paul were shot. He asserted he then visited his parents’ house in nearby Varnville to check on his ailing father, Randolph Murdaugh, who succumbed to illness three days after the murders.
After returning to Moselle around 10:07 p.m., Alex stated he discovered the lifeless bodies of Maggie and Paul and promptly called 911.
In March 2023, Alex Murdaugh faced a jury that delivered a guilty verdict for the murders of his wife and son. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, marking a dramatic fall from grace for a once-prominent legal figure in South Carolina.
As the fallout from this high-profile case continues, its implications on the local community and beyond remain profound.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Alex Murdaugh’s attorney for comments regarding Turrubiate-Simpson’s revelations and ongoing legal strategies.
The tragic saga of the Murdaugh family encapsulates themes of betrayal, loss, and the complicated nature of familial relationships. As the details of this case unfold, it has captured national attention, raising questions about justice, accountability, and the impact of crime on families and communities.
