EXCLUSIVE – The United States has declared it will not engage in a forthcoming conference in New York City, which is co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia and aims to foster the recognition of a Palestinian state. This announcement came from U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee in an exclusive discussion with Fox News Digital during his visit to Jerusalem earlier this week.
Huckabee expressed strong disapproval of the initiative, stating, “It’s incredibly inappropriate in the midst of a war that Israel is dealing with to go out and present something that I think increasingly Israelis are steadfast against.” He criticized the timing and nature of the proposal, emphasizing the complicated situation Israel faces currently.
He continued, “Oct. 7 changed a lot of things. If France is genuinely invested in the establishment of a Palestinian state, I have a suggestion for them—carve out a piece of the French Riviera to create a Palestinian state. But they should not impose such pressures on a sovereign nation. It is revolting that they assume they have the right to do this.”
Huckabee articulated that the United States’ absence from this diplomatic endeavor signifies a rejection of what he perceives as an unfair diplomatic maneuver. “I hope they reconsider; however, the U.S. will not participate. It simply will not be a part of such a ruse,” he reaffirmed.
Amid reports of rising tensions between the Trump administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, Huckabee reassured pro-Israel Americans that there is little reason for concern regarding a significant rift in U.S.-Israel relations. He mentioned that while differences of opinion might exist regarding military strategies in Gaza or negotiations for hostages, the core relationship remains solid.
“There may be disagreements on next steps, but the bond between the United States and Israel is not at risk,” Huckabee stated. “It is critically important that the United States maintains its partnership with Israel. We share intelligence, military expertise, and numerous connections—this relationship is inseparable.”
Huckabee also commented on the escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. He described the Islamic Republic as one of the greatest threats to global peace, highlighting its potential to endanger not only Israel but also several Gulf states and ultimately the United States itself.
He reflected on Iran’s rhetoric towards Israel and America, stating, “The Iranians have long referred to Israel as the ‘Little Satan’ and the United States as the ‘Great Satan.’ Their history of threatening violence toward both nations calls for serious attention. When they consistently declare their intention to enact harm, it merits serious consideration and response.”
Despite the daunting prospects, Huckabee conveyed cautious optimism regarding the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran, expressing hope that diplomatic measures could avert military conflict. However, he warned that if diplomatic efforts continue to falter, military options may need to be pursued. “When diplomacy fails, the soldiers show up,” he remarked.
Turning to the current conflict between Israel and Hamas, Huckabee stated that the suffering caused by the conflict could cease immediately if Hamas took decisive action. He expressed hopes that Hamas would release hostages and exit Gaza.
“All of us are hoping and praying for the release of all hostages. If Hamas chooses to release the hostages and depart from Gaza, the violence can end. It could have concluded on Oct. 8, 2023, but unfortunately, it didn’t,” Huckabee lamented. He described the actions taken by Hamas in context as unthinkable and heinous.
In discussing the future of Gaza, Huckabee reiterated that Hamas has no future in the territory. “Hamas cannot rule Gaza anymore and should depart. Israel has made options available for evacuation but emphasizes that they cannot be permitted to return. The release of all hostages, both living and deceased, is essential,” he added.
Huckabee expressed hope for a swift resolution to the hostage situation, sharing his personal sentiment: “The pin I wear on my lapel represents my hope for the day when I can remove it in joy, signifying that all hostages have safely returned home.”
Discussing the broader implications of U.S.-Middle East relations, Huckabee expressed confidence in the future of the Abraham Accords, a peace agreement established during Trump’s administration that normalized relations between Israel and multiple Arab states, including the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
While he refrained from naming specific countries interested in joining the accords, Huckabee indicated that numerous nations now recognize that hostility towards Israel is unwarranted. “There are several nations that understand that maintaining enmity with Israel is meaningless. While progress must align with public sentiment, the possibility for significant advancements in the Abraham Accords is promising,” he concluded.
