ICE Houston Operation Nets Over 350 Gang Arrests Amid Rising Criminal Concerns

FIRST ON FOX: In a significant crackdown, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Houston has arrested over 350 illegal migrants connected to various street gangs during the first half of President Trump’s second term. This operation has intensified focus on notorious organizations, including the violent MS-13 and the Tren de Aragua, both of which have caused severe disruptions across communities in America.

The surge in arrests reflects the administration’s commitment to targeting individuals deemed the “worst of the worst” among criminal migrants. This strategy aims to enhance public safety and restore integrity to the immigration system. Notably, one migrant was apprehended after re-entering the U.S. an astonishing 40 times.

From January to June, ICE rounded up 356 gang members, collectively accountable for 1,685 criminal offenses. These crimes range from horrific acts such as murder and sex trafficking to arson and theft.

To illustrate the magnitude of this initiative, the preceding six months of the Biden administration saw just 75 gang members arrested within the Houston vicinity. This represents a staggering 375 percent increase in gang-related arrests under the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, in the entirety of 2021, the ICE Houston field office made only 115 gang member arrests.

The recent operations highlighted the arrests of 39 MS-13 gang members, 25 from Tren de Aragua, six associated with the Latin Kings, 159 linked to the Paisas, and 26 from Tango Blast. This range illustrates the diverse spectrum of gang affiliations present in the Houston area.

Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin credited the impressive increase in arrests to the robust enforcement measures employed by the Trump administration. She stated that these actions represent a significant victory against transnational gangs operating in the United States.

“Thanks to President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are removing illegal alien gang members from America’s streets,” McLaughlin emphasized. “ICE law enforcement is diligently targeting these vicious gangs responsible for heinous crimes across the nation.”

McLaughlin further elaborated on the administration’s commitment: “President Trump and Secretary Noem have unleashed ICE to dismantle transnational criminal terrorist gangs. The days of unchecked gang violence are OVER.”

Among the notable arrests is Milton Alexander Magaña Fuentes, a 31-year-old Paisas gang member from El Salvador. His extensive criminal history includes convictions for child predation, indicating the serious nature of threats these gangs pose to the community. He has been apprehended for illegally entering the U.S. four times.

Another apprehended individual is Ronald Alberto Rivas-Aguilar, a 28-year-old MS-13 gang member, also from El Salvador. His criminal record includes a homicide conviction alongside multiple illegal re-entries into the U.S. Meanwhile, Humberto Romero Avila, a 45-year-old Paisas gang member, has been sought for homicide in Mexico and has reportedly entered the U.S. ten times, accumulating multiple DWI and theft convictions.

Adding to the list of serious offenders, Herson Barrera Vasquez, identified as a Latin Kings gang member, carries seven assault convictions along with charges for fraud, drug trafficking, and disorderly conduct. His deportations from the U.S. have numbered four, signifying a persistent cycle of violence.

Gabriel Martinez, the acting field office director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Houston, expressed concerns about the graphic violence perpetrated by gangs. He referenced a harrowing incident involving the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl, underscoring the critical nature of ICE’s mission.

Martinez affirmed the dedication of his team, stating, “Despite attempts by some to undermine the courageous work being undertaken by our officers, the brave men and women of ICE remain vigilant. They tackle the challenges of arresting violent transnational gang members, foreign fugitives, and dangerous criminal aliens on a daily basis.”

In his impassioned speech, Martinez also remarked, “Our officers understand that their efforts can help prevent atrocities like the heinous acts against innocent individuals from ever occurring again. They are committed to ensuring these criminals are removed from our streets.”
