A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer sustained serious injuries in Houston on Monday while attempting to arrest a Salvadoran national facing violent crime charges.
According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security, the officer was violently struck in the face with a metal coffee cup by Leonel Perez Rodriguez, who has been deported twice from the United States.
