A newly established K-12 online school is dedicated to promoting American values and distancing itself from what it terms woke ideology. This initiative seeks to offer parents an alternative amid growing concerns over liberal perspectives in traditional educational settings.
Damian Creamer, president of the American Virtual Academy, emphasized this mission during an interview with Fox News Digital. He expressed a desire to provide a refuge for families disenchanted with the prevailing educational narratives.
We are committed to giving families an option for their children to attend a school that aligns with their values. We prioritize teaching American principles, Creamer explained.
This fully online, accredited K-12 institution launched its services in April of this year. The school operates as a private nonprofit, charging an annual tuition of $5,000 to $6,000 based on grade level.
Accessible Education Across the Nation
All 50 states can access this K-12 online learning platform, thanks to its virtual structure. Notably, eight states support the use of vouchers and school choice scholarships to help cover tuition costs. These states are Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
As of now, American Virtual Academy boasts an enrollment of 600 students, but it has ambitious plans to expand to 10,000 students within three years.
Core Academic Focus
Creamer also highlighted the academy’s commitment to core academic subjects such as reading, writing, and mathematics. He reassured families about the curriculum, aimed at nurturing students in a respectful environment that aligns with their values.
Families can rest assured knowing that our teaching methods reflect their beliefs, he said. Creamer was deliberate in designing the curriculum to ensure that it would support students academically while steering clear of what some perceive as divisive concepts.
Our goal is to create an environment free from woke ideology, including critical race theory and discussions surrounding transgender issues. We focus on providing a solid foundational education devoid of these contentious topics, he concluded.

The shift toward alternative education options has been noticeable since 2020. Increasing numbers of parents are opting out of traditional public schooling in favor of alternatives such as homeschooling and online education, largely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arizona took the lead in 2022 by introducing universal school choice, launching an $800 million program that provides parents with $7,000 to allocate towards their children’s education. This initiative marked a significant move toward greater educational flexibility for families.
