Intense GOP Advertising Battle Ignites Ahead of Arizona Gubernatorial Primary

EXCLUSIVE: The campaign advertising war has officially begun in the heated Republican gubernatorial primary in Arizona, with the election a little over a year away from August 2026.

On Tuesday, Turning Point PAC unveiled plans for a significant $500,000 media buy targeting Arizona voters. The advertising strategy focuses on various platforms, including strategic cable, over-the-top streaming, radio, and direct-to-voter placements. This campaign aims to elevate support for Rep. Andy Biggs, kicking off the ads on Tuesday, which will run for a duration of 3.5 weeks. The advertisements will appear on local Fox News slots, conservative talk radio, and streaming services, alongside targeted digital promotions.

Tyler Bowyer, COO of Turning Point Action and Turning Point PAC, praised Biggs in a statement, emphasizing his close alignment with former President Trump. He stated that Biggs has been the most reliable ally for Trump in Congress, noting his endorsements from Trump, Charlie Kirk, and Turning Point Action.

He remarked, “His campaign momentum is already building at an incredible pace, and we’ve barely just begun. This media buy, combined with Biggs’s impressive earned media exposure, illustrates the grassroots enthusiasm for making Andy Biggs the next governor of Arizona.”

This announcement coincided with a rally held in Phoenix over the weekend, showcasing significant support for Biggs. Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, described the turnout as historic, stating, “To see a room packed with thousands of Biggs supporters this far out from the primary is truly remarkable. It proves the grassroots energy already gathering behind his campaign.”

Kirk emphasized the inevitability of Biggs’s presence on the ballot, claiming that as more voters learn about him, his double-digit lead over competitors will only increase. He asserted that Biggs is prepared to deliver a level of leadership similar to Trump and Ron DeSantis in governing Arizona.

In the primary race, Biggs faces competition from Karrin Taylor Robson, a notable businesswoman and former member of the Arizona Board of Regents. Robson, who previously sought the nomination in 2022 and lost to Kari Lake, has also ramped up her campaign efforts. An ally of Robson stated that her campaign has been investing heavily in advertising, spending similar amounts weekly to reach voters across all platforms. Additionally, her campaign touted a “multi-million dollar” advertising strategy featuring a commercial highlighting Trump’s earlier endorsement of her.

Robson expressed her appreciation for Trump’s ongoing support, stating, “I’m proud and honored that President Trump has reaffirmed his endorsement of our campaign. It’s time we convey our message of America and Arizona First leadership to voters across the state. Katie Hobbs has proven to be a disaster and has tried to obstruct President Trump’s vision. As Governor, I will collaborate with President Trump to strengthen our border, improve our economy, and enhance safety in Arizona.”

The ally for Robson pointed out that Turning Point’s decision to initiate advertisements at this early stage underscores the competitiveness of the primary race.

Simultaneously, President Donald Trump has been vocal about his backing for both Biggs and Robson in the race for governor. Whichever candidate secures the nomination will face incumbent Governor Katie Hobbs, setting the stage for a highly competitive general election.

In a Truth Social post, Trump reflected on his endorsements: “I like Karrin Taylor Robson of Arizona a lot. When she approached me for endorsement, with no one else in the race, I was happy to do so.” He continued, stating, “When Andy Biggs unexpectedly entered the gubernatorial race, it presented a challenge — two fantastic candidates, two wonderful champions, and it is my great honor to endorse both. Either one will never let you down. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Looking ahead, the early advertising efforts demonstrate Arizona’s status as a competitive battleground state, particularly after Trump’s impressive performance in the November elections. The Cook Political Report currently categorizes the governor’s race as a toss-up, emphasizing the stakes for both candidates.

As both Andy Biggs and Karrin Taylor Robson ramp up their campaigns, the political landscape in Arizona grows increasingly dynamic and complex. With substantial advertising budgets and grassroots support driving their efforts, this primary promises to be one of the most fiercely contested in recent state history.

Anticipation is high as voters prepare for a year filled with campaigns, rallies, and political discourse that may ultimately shape the future leadership of Arizona.
