Investigating Joe Biden: A Closer Look at Health Concerns and Testimonies

The House Oversight Committee conducted a hearing this week featuring crucial testimony from a top Biden administration official. This inquiry is part of the ongoing investigation into the former president’s health challenges and mental agility.

Despite leaving office in January, concerns regarding Biden’s cognitive abilities have not subsided. Recent audio recordings from his interview with special counsel Robert Hur alongside news of his cancer diagnosis have intensified scrutiny surrounding actions taken in his final days in office.

In this article, we outline the active investigations focused on the former president and those in his inner circle.

House Committee Investigates Alleged Cover-up of Cognitive Decline

The House Oversight Committee, chaired by Congressman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, is examining claims of a cover-up related to Biden’s mental health deterioration.

The inquiry aims to determine if Biden’s aides deliberately concealed his declining mental state and whether they utilized methods to bypass his decision-making authority. One notable technique under investigation is the autopen, a tool employed to replicate the president’s signature on documents.

Several former aides have agreed to voluntarily participate in transcribed testimonies. These include Neera Tanden, the director of Biden’s former Domestic Policy Council; Anthony Bernal, an assistant and senior adviser to the first lady; Ashley Williams, a former special assistant to Biden, and Annie Tomasini, the deputy chief of staff.

Tanden recently testified before the House Oversight Committee. She indicated that her interactions with Biden were limited, despite her significant role. According to Comer, she stated, “To obtain approval for autopen signatures, I would send decision memos to members of the president’s inner circle, but I had no insight into what transpired after sending the memo and receiving it back with approval.” This testimony has raised serious questions about who was genuinely controlling decision-making in Biden’s administration.

Subpoena Issued to Top Aide

Bernal was set to appear for a voluntary transcribed interview scheduled for June 26, but after the White House counsel’s office waived executive privilege for the investigation, he declined to testify.

Comer has now issued a subpoena to ensure Bernal’s cooperation, emphasizing his closeness to both Biden and the former first lady. In a letter accompanying the subpoena, Comer wrote, “The Committee sought to understand if you played a role in efforts to obscure former President Biden’s fitness to serve from the public eye. Your input is essential for advancing the Committee’s oversight responsibilities.”

Upcoming testimonies are scheduled for Williams on July 11 and Tomasini on July 18.

Further Developments: Investigating Former Staff

In addition to those already subpoenaed, Biden’s former White House doctor, Kevin O’Connor, received a subpoena after he refused an invitation for a transcribed interview on June 27.

Additionally, Comer has reached out to five more significant former Biden staff members, expanding his inquiry to a total of ten individuals. This includes former chief of staff Ron Klain and top advisors Anita Dunn, Michael Donilon, Steve Ricchetti, and Bruce Reed, the former deputy chief of staff for policy.

Senate Committee Holds Hearing on Biden’s Health

Recently, the Senate Judiciary Committee convened a hearing titled “Unfit to Serve: How the Biden Cover-up Endangered America and Undermined the Constitution.” This session featured expert testimonies, including insights from a law professor at the University of Virginia and a fellow from the Heritage Foundation.

Testimony from Theodore Wold described the alleged concealment of Biden’s health issues as a “constitutional crisis.” Republican senators criticized their Democratic counterparts for boycotting the hearing, with Texas Senator John Cornyn highlighting the absence of many Democratic senators as indicative of their guilt.

“We cannot ignore this search for answers, as it could very well shape the future of our nation,” Cornyn declared.

The Political Landscape: Democratic Response

Democratic Senators, including Peter Welch and Dick Durbin, were present at the beginning of the hearing. However, Durbin eventually walked out, dismissing the session as a distraction and accusing Republicans of neglecting other pressing legal issues.

He remarked, “We should urgently address the violence and threats affecting our country, rather than getting sidetracked by this hearing.” Both senators posited that the hearing did not effectively serve their constituencies.

Biden’s Health: Recent Diagnosis and Implications

In his final weeks as commander in chief, Biden granted clemency to over 1,500 individuals. The Department of Justice is scrutinizing these pardons amidst concerns about the use of the autopen for signatures.

DOJ Pardon Attorney Ed Martin is currently reviewing Biden-era pardons, which include those for his son, Hunter, and others implicated in various controversies.

Biden has publicly acknowledged only signing one pardon by hand during his final days in office, which was for his son after considerable public opposition. This decision sparked debates over the apparent conflict of interest and the motivations behind it.

Addressing Cancer Diagnosis

Biden was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer characterized by a Gleason score of 9, indicating a severe stage of the illness. His team communicated that while the condition is aggressive, it appears hormone-sensitive, allowing for possible effective treatment.

Concern surrounds the timeline regarding when Biden learned about his prostate cancer diagnosis. Comer is broadening his investigation to examine this timeline closely.

“Biden once mentioned having cancer in a past interview, only for the White House to quickly clarify it as a misunderstanding,” Comer pointed out, suggesting that information has been obscured regarding the true state of Biden’s health.

Looking Forward: The Investigation Continues

The ramifications of these investigations have wide-reaching implications for Biden’s presidency and the ongoing political dynamics in Washington. With testimonies and further inquiries ahead, the quest for transparency in the administration remains crucial.

As the investigations progress, the focus on Biden’s mental acuity and health status will continue to shape public discourse and political strategy moving forward.
