According to the IGF, they received authorization from the Israeli Security Authorities to compete in the World Championship, contingent on implementing essential security protocols. The federation stated that all preparations had been finalized, which included securing registration, entry visas, and the confirmation from Israeli security authorities.

Men’s gymnast Eyal Indig shared with media that his country’s security team had granted him and his teammates permission to enter the host city, citing established security measures. These protocols have been in place since the 1972 Munich Olympics, where a tragic terrorist incident targeted Israeli athletes.

Indig expressed disbelief at the situation, stating, “For us, it was very strange. That same security did a scan one week before our flight, in Indonesia, they were in Indonesia, and they authorized everything in terms of security. So we had full authorization from Israel security’s team, and you can believe me that they wouldn’t authorize anything that wasn’t safe. And our federation kept telling us it was safe.”

Indig characterized Indonesia’s decision as a blatant act of discrimination based on nationality.
